Walking around the night market on sunday april 2nd 2023, in chiang mai, thailand. Starting outside a bar where a band is doing an improv music set, then walking down the road passing stalls and people from all around the world. This was recorded in the centre of oxford, near the junction between broad street and turl street, on 23rd february 2013. I was facing west along broad street with turl street, and the pavement, to my left. There are many different sounds on this recording including bikes being parked (i was standing near a bike rack) and ridden, cars lurking for a parking space, dropping people off and turning round (broad street has a car park in the middle of it), plenty of different people walking past and talking, and a big issue seller. There is the occasional bit of wind noise, but not as much as i'd feared (luckily the wind was behind me). Recorded with a marantz pmd661 with built-in microphones.

A few years ago we found it in the corner of a half-abandoned courtyard of one of the houses located on the main avenue of the city. Even then it looked bad. I'm sure there's nothing left of it now. Perhaps these sounds are the only evidence of its existence. Fragment 4/4.

Recorded with a roland r-05. I placed it under my pickup truck on a very rainy day. The sound of rainfall has a little bit of a metallic sound as the rain hits my truck. There is also a river-flowing kind of sound as this street floods in heavy rain, and the water runs from the street into a storm drain right beside my driveway. Various vehicles occasionally pass by.
