It's nearly impossible to find sound effects of someone handling an instrument and not playing it. . . At least it was until i uploaded this!. This was an acoustic guitar, but can be pitched up or down for similar smaller or bigger instruments. There's rubbing, knocking, and gliding fingers over the strings. No need to credit me. The beautiful, simple call of the field cricket is one of my favorite insect sounds. In late summer though the huge choruses of katydids and cicadas often drown out the simple beauty of this love song. Later, as the season progresses into fall and the temps dip to where the cicadas and katydids no longer sing, these simple, beautiful field cricket calls still last up to the time that the days just can't stay warm any longer. I like to see how late into the season i can hear these guys---something just hauntingly mesmerizing hearing this sound and no other on a mild autumn day, after a cold night. . I was fortunate enough to capture this recording on september 4th 2013 in my backyard. Recording made around 4:30 in the morning with my h4n recorder using its internal built-in microphones.

I was trying to record the brook that runs from a spring in the woods but faintly, then growing louder, a man walked past in a big loop around the dell the brook was in, playing chart music out of a portable speakeri decided to keep speeding in case it was of use or interest.

Glass bottle hit with a wooden guiro striker, close to the rim/neck. Sharp sound, a little harsh, but could be edited to fit without hurting eardrums too badly. Ibc cream soda bottle, cleaned, label removed, recorded on samson q2u.

This is a recording of my stone fireplace burning with a zoom h4n pro. I was burning wet, north carolina lob-lolly pine so that i would end up with a nice, consistent popping sound. Great for any fireplace scene when used at various volume levels. Enjoy!. Christopher c. Courter.
