The whole precedure: switch-on-klick. Heats up. Hisses with a few nice whistling melodies (from 00:27 on). Boils. Automatic switch off. Close stereo recording (10cm) with sony pcm-10. Pretty low background noise (kitchen ambience).

My upstairs neighbor sometimes likes to rhythmically stomp on their floor. I recorded their stomping with low gain and then with high gain, from the living room of my apartment. You'll likely need to perform some noise reduction, especially on the high gain stomps. This was recorded with a blue yeti mic.

These short files are random selections from a 9min composite audio file i put together from an accidental recording made when i left my sony camcorder on in my studio. They are part of the same series posted elsewhere on thefreesoundproject site titled "accidental recordist". There is some hiss/background noise which is part of the street front urban scene of my studio. There are two chimes - one low pitch constructed of four aluminium tubes and wooden clapper (gift) and the high pitch one of small stainless steel discs (purchased in maui from craft shop). I did some basic cleanup of low level background noise and applied plus one level of loudness using adobe soundbooth cs3 to get some clarity.

I played arbitrary co-soundings on the mystic scale (it becomes mystic arabian if you mimic arabian music; otherwise is sounds european). I applied 300 hz steep low pass (eq) on an inverse sawtooth soundwave generator. I applied many delay effects in tandem. Created on fruity loops and re-equed on wavelab. (semitonally/fret steps: 0, +1, +3, +1, +3, +1, +3). (si = ti, do = c). It is chordable.

Recording of sea undertow on the beach of formicoli, vibo valentia, calabria, italy, the 19th agust 2022 16:44. The sound was recorder with a zoom h1n with windshield at a short distance from the crashing of the waves on the beach. The waves are driven by a light, gentle wind. The sound was recorded by holding the microphone in my hand while i dived knee-deep into the water and walk, filming the crashing of the waves (also on my legs). High-frequency sound details (the foam of the sea, the impact of waves on each other, etc. ) are much more audible here. Processing:* volume adjustment;* 120hz high pass filter (to reduce low some low frequencies rumble due to the wind);* cut and crossfade to eliminate very few mechanical noise of my hand on the mic;.

Recording of a door being opened and closed, and then opened and closed again. Very slight footsteps (on carpet) can be heard. The microphone (sennheiser mkh-50) was intentionally placed about 5 feet away from the door and aimed slightly off-axis so as to capture more of the natural room sound/reverb. I have another recording available of the exact same door and mic setup, but aimed on-axis for a more direct recording (it still has a slight bit of room sound - that was what i wanted for these two recordings). Recorded into a tascam 208i audio interface and into adobe audition. Very minor processing (low-cut at 80hz to remove low-freq rumble).

Synth bagpipes with snare only. I made this for the backing track, at very low volume, for a video sound track. It's good enough for something like that. I don't know anything about pipes so don't freak out if play them. It's g at 100bpm in 6/8.

Drawing curtains: in the sound you hear curtains being drawn from one side to the other giving a harsh "shhhhhh" sound. There are different variations in the speed in which the curtains are drawn as well. Recorded using the zoomh4n and using the rode ntg1 condenser shotgun microphone. A low shelf was added to this sound to cancel some handling issues.

A digital sounding humming ringing noise, or a ringing humming sound. Not really sure how to describe this what this is, but i liked the way it sounded so i uploaded it. Sound is a paulstretched cello. Used audacity's pitch lower till it made that ringing noise. Was trying to make sound for ambient tracks.

I said a sentence into the mic and made its tempo and pitch very slow and low. You could probably use the part of it that sounds like a screech(which was literally me pronouncing "ssuck")for some kind of video game monster like scp 096 (hence the scp tag).

For this sound i used 4 differents kind of tonality :261,6 hz293,7 hz329,6 hz349,2 hzand then i used the effect low and high and i put an higher pitched sound to make a sound more like videogames style. This sound have a joyful purpose like when you finish a stage in a game.

Thunderstorm aftermath. Sounds of a thunderstorm about 10 minutes after it left the area. So low rumbles and rain dripping. The sound was recorded using a yamaha audiogram6 connected to a radioshack brand vocal microphone. Sampling was done at 44,100hz and the data was recorded using audacity. Session 1, find more koto in this sound pack. The recorder wasn't optimally placed in the session 1 recording, so sometimes you might hear some low impact noises transitioning through the table to the recorder. Some eq (low cut) should be able to fix this. We went to my friend's father to record a koto, a traditional japanese zither-like (table harp) instrument, consisting of a large wooden base with long strings for plucking. The strings are tuned in the japanese pentatonic scale, allowing a mystic, mysterious, beautiful harmony. It was my first time ever playing this instrument, so don't expect wonders lol. But i tried to "feel" the instrument as well as i could, working from my limited keyboard and guitar playing skills. I improvised simple patterns, and also tried to work with call and response ideas, and bass notes, plucking the low strings with my fingers, and then plucking the high ones with a pick.
