Today begins a week of immense global protests and strikes to bring attention to the climate issue. Of course, i attended the guildford protest, participated and documented it here with some of its vocal chanting from a crowd of several hundred. With the aim of spreading news of this strike as much as possible, i am releasing this sound to the public domain. These strikes deserve to be heard. They need to be heard. . Recorded on mid-summer (that looked like mid-autumn) day 2010 in vilnius with a simple olympus voice recorder. I placed an old piece of metal sheet on a broken glass fish tank near a garage wall to catch the drops, recorder was placed in the middle of the sheet. The rain was very light and fine, later it intensified and became lighter again - all this is heard in the recording. Unfortunately three recorder beeps are heard at the end signaling that it was running out of memory. I later decided to leave them in as it quite unexpectedly added some drama to the whole record. . .

I'm doing some ww1 commemorative stuff and couldn't find any marching on freesound. So here's my effort: 25s of medium pace marching on gravel, made from a few freesound samples mixed and retimed to match the pace. It's a very bright, close-mic sound, with wide stereo spread. It should loop seamlessly. So this is a composite made from:60076__sinatra314__footsteps-in-gravel-loop109487__tomlija__11-footsteps-on-the-gravel213307__taira-komori__walking-on-the-earth. I've retimed them all to be roughly in synch, added a multitap delay to boost the numbers of feet and some eq to give more of an impression of space.

This audio contains a guitar performance of lily was here song. It was recorded using a fender player telecaster guitar and yamaha audio gram 6 audio interface as recording set up. Tempo: 108. The setup to record this performance and the other ones in the same dataset (five guitar dataset) is explained here: the setup used a yamaha audio gram 6 audio interface and reaper 10 to record guitar from direct input (di), a huawei p30 lite model mar-lx1a to record guitar from a mobile and a dell inspiron 13 5000 to record guitar from a computer. To record acoustic guitar in di, i used a fishman neo d single coin on larrivée and seymour duncan seth love on the eastman connected to a nap-5 stageman floor acoustic preamp going then to the audio interface. The computer and mobile were positioned approximately 3. 8 cm from the player position (measured from the twelve fret of the guitars). The electric guitars were plugged into a dv mark little jazz guitar amp which has a di output, that was connected to the audio interface. The amp was located at a distance of 114. 5 cm from the mobile and the computer.

Echoes of bombs and fusillades ring out across the city, while clouds of smoke tumble menacingly through the streets. Close by, a peaceful child sets off sparklers, and is astonished by the display. I made this sound in september 2003 - i used a fairlight mfx 3 - a direct descendant of the first sampler ever made - and the best ever to this day editing software for ground breaking features and functions. Clip based eq and level which you could cross fade between made the use of automation almost redundant in precise to picture editing. It also had a unique alternative jog function. You could loop 1 frame or so as you chose of sound at the orginal pitch which made it easy to find transient points. I then 'grind' the play head over a solo'd sound and play this into a reverb unit. I have many of these accidental experiments and one day i shall make the fairlight pack!. Until then enjoy this alien - from mars with love :). Ps - you can do this experiment today! i found that i can use sound flower as an out put in audio finder. If you open a sample in the sample editor - you can recreate the fairlight jpg by grabbing the playback head in play. You may then route sound flower thru an input channel and get some unusual effects that are difficult to achieve. . If you can improve on this method let me know!.
