I'm trying to get some character to my modular sounds. This is a sequence with a sawtooth wave mixed with noise and joined in a vca that can distort a little. It's a vca i bought used. Don't think a new vca of the same sort distortes. I really like that. I little reverb is added to the sound. The sound is analog until it reaches the reverb. Sometime i will buy a spring reverb. Promise. But here, on the internet, the sound is digital anyway.

Whenever i use my usb stick, my computer always makes an awful noise. I decided to record it and see if any of you guys can make anything out of it. To me it sounds like some sort of aliens or robots talking to each other. The only editing done was noise removal to get rid of the fuzziness and amplification to make it a little bit louder. (going like consists of setting an oscillator to sine with just a release tail and noise + a lowpass snapping up and trailing off gently + compression/distortion of some sort + high frequency shelf snapping down from high gain and then back up).

A recording of my sharpening a machete that we would use to chop drift wood for a beach fire at an island art residency. Between times, you can hear my being offered and resisting advice on how best to sharpen the blade, and my requesting a 'grown up gummie bear'. Also, my then eight-year-old updating me on their search for a pencil sharpener. I used the recording for a sound design commission and as a sort of white noise component of an uplifter for a pop song.

Recorded at tea, a museum in santa cruz de tenerife. I was invited by dancer masu fajardo to create some sound ambients for a dance piece she was doing there, we decided to use only the sounds being created by her body and her interactions with the space. This is a first in a series of noises from machines. I work at a company that prints and packages things like decals and parts on cars. This is the noise of the printer making some sort of thumping noise, as it was broken at the time and hadn’t gotten to be fixed. If you’re wondering what hat terrible whirring is in the background, that is the combined noise of about a dozen large machines operating as well as the ac and it’s pretty commonplace there. Here's my first field recording and first upload on here. I recorded my friend's fireplace in his apartment for a theater production through my college for which i was the sound designer and sound board operator. I used a zoom q3hd with its built-in stereo xy microphones at about a foot or so away from the fire (on the bricks directly encasing the fireplace) with some make-shift baffling around the fireplace (safe, i know). This track is an edited version, a sort of "best of".

A quick and dirty sound effect i put together for a film school project. This is a full acoustic drumkit sampled at multiple velocities with drum sticks and brushes, it was recorded in a small jazz bar at a local music school, i recorded this a long time ago with a zoom h1 portable recorder. It would still need some sorting and tweaking to build a soundfont or hydrogen drumkit which i want to do in the future but it will probably not be anytime soon.

I decided to go out for the night so i thought it would be a good idea to have my sound recorder going for around 3 minutes. My ac turned on a little after. I caught a few things like fire truck sirens, and some sort of ear ringing sound. Not sure where that came from but it happened. It was a very cold and windy day when i visited the mile high swinging bridge at the top of grandfather mountain. Unfortunately, i did not have a windscreen, so there is a bit of noise in the recording of the "singing" bridge. The reason i say "singing" is that the high winds were blowing through the 228-foot long suspension bridge bars making a haunting sort of song. It is considered the highest suspension footbridge in north america at just over a mile high.

I found two melodies in gis_sweden's excellent "you deserve it - friday randomness ii"http://freesound. Org/people/gis_sweden/sounds/362508/. And quantized them into a 92 bpm 4/4 thing. Each melody is presented panned, with and without a beat, then simultaneously. It's sort of an accidental counterpoint. I also messed up his nice analog sound into some harsh digital junk. A sound i initially made for scp containment breach's ambiance sounds when i had first had the zoom h6 (2019 december, i regularly sound mod old games to gain learning experience of the encoding, the resampling quality of that engine and the internals and since then i've improved in many places). The actual recording is the pressure sound of water going down its sinkhole, filtered as to "muffle" the sound due to the design being that behind a wall and catching the attention of the player likely leading to their death by scp-173 but also was done to boost its bass and it gives a sort of comfortable, releasing feel.

This is a sample from the plug on the bottom of a shaving cream can getting pulled out and the resulting release of air pressure and shaving cream. If you're good enough at editing, you can make this into an explosion, a weapon, a hydraulic release, or some sort of gloopy lava bubbling sound, or anything else you can create with this. I recorded some rain outside my front door. This is a tuned (a440) sample which you can use to achieve a sort of soft-yet-textured synth string sound in a virtual instrument like ableton's sampler. I think adding a little fake vibrato to it with multiple conflicting volume lfos sounds pretty nice. You're free to use this sound without attribution. 1 looping envelope and 2 vclfos in a dance (chain connected). I think its harder for this combination to find a nice pattern - equilibrium. It happens sometimes. Maybe the mixture between positive and negative cv confuses the modules. Makes it harder. I start the recording with one of the vclfos in vco-mode. After about 17 sec i swith to lfo-mode. Records and hope that a pattern should emerge. I have been listening, and looking at the wave form, in different modes, but i'm not sure if there is a pattern in this recording. . . Maybe to advanced for me. There is - some -sort of pattern repeating every 22 sec. Or?.

Recently we purchased a scale from ikea, when we finally got around to using it we realized that it must be off, as i do not weigh 240 lbs. As we did not have a receipt, or the desire to drive 2 hours to return a $10 scale the only course of action left to me was to take the damn thing apart and record its insides. (what else?). I recorded and edited together around 7 and a half minutes of various configurations and performances of me making some sort of repetitive, engine-like sound. I can foresee myself using these sounds for an old-timey engine or car. Recorded with a rode ntg-3 at 96/24.

These are a series of gunshots that are supposed to resemble a laser sort of weapon, like an alien weapon. To make this, i used a filter that has a vocoder, polyvox, and talkbox, with distortion added. The initial sound i'm making is a chirping with my mouth and the filter does the rest. I think this works well on its own but it should work well mixed in with another sound effect if you choose to mix it. There is no reverb added or environment effects so its very flexible. This lovely little toy piano has been a member of my parent’s home since before i can remember. Made this moody dance-friendly tune in garageband for something called victors crypt. It's sort of happy, a bit up-tempo and dance-friendly but has this eerie anxious undertone. That's why i named it "dancing in dispair". Did a bassline along with a beat to start it off. Then i added some minor chords and synths with a lot of room to create a spookiness in it. I tried to vary it by making it change instrumental-wise during the tune. Think it would work great to a game, youtube-channel, episode, movie or whatever you feel like. The "concrete cello" pack is a collection of scraping, scratchy and droning improvisations on the cello focussing on the creation of sounds to be used as base materials for future compositions. This is heavily inspired by the urban myth and/or creepypasta called the backrooms, which have a very distinct atmosphere to them. This is my interpretation. However, this isn't exclusively for backrooms-related stuff! so by all means, if you're simply in need of some interior ambience of any sort, that's also why i made this for you. No advanced processing was used to achieve this sound. I recorded an electrical box in my garage for the buzzing. For the 2nd layer, i turned on some fans in my room, and made a long mono recording of the white-noise. I then split the recording in half, and used each half for the left and right channel, giving it a stereo sound. I then spent an hour leveling all of it because i'm a perfectionist. Yay. Hardware & software used:-audacity-zoom h4n pro (buzzing)-rode nt1 (fan-noise).

I found this old c-60 cassette labelled "xx" in a local thrift store. (i like to collect found sound recordings-- sometimes there's some pretty weird stuff!) well, it turns out i found some guy's old tape recording involving him having sex while blasting some awful anne murray cover album. . . The recording is the post-sex dialogue, right after that final song fades out. . . At the end, the woman asks something like "are you going to get your tape recorder?" and the guy seems to become flustered, saying something like "i wasn't recording, it's off!" (i'm paraphrasing. ) i guess he thought she realised he was recording it or something. Anyways, after this, the recording is cut off. You can also hear a toilet flush, and some sort of "squeaky toy" noise during the recording. Recorded direct to soundcard, playing back the tape on a cheap hand-held cassette player. Edited w/ compression to reduce peaking.
