Although the project inspire (nasa) seems to have died, there are still sources of sound sources of vlf noise in the net. In http://abelian. Org/vlf can be found several available streams from multiple receivers located around the globe. In this package, i simply offer a few records scattered in time from this site. The stereo samples correspond to a experimental stream that combines two sources balanced on each channel: cumiana vlf receiver (italy) + sheffield vlf receiver (uk). Sound from near my flat (great barr birmingham uk) at around 4am. There are various bird sounds within this file aswell as being able to hear the m6 motorway in the distance (i did try to accent this by pointing the mic in different directions). Made for the ice-breaker collab. Simple mournful loop with deep kick, flute and strings. Tempo=90 bpm. An arpegiated supersaw over drone effect (wollo drone) repeats 3 times. First iteration includes a melody played as a flute. Second iteration of the loop has the flute replaced with a full string section. Third time around, it's just the arp and drone. All three versions of the loop have a deep, reverberating and mellow kickdrum. Sounds tribal(-ish). Created in flstudio 11. 04 with virtual instruments and vst eq + reverb.

It's a recording of audience applauding during a gig. You can hear around 50 people clapping their hands, sometimes shouting. There is also sometimes a piece of music or the vocalist's speech audible. I tried to eliminate any music, without badly trimming the sound. I used some fade-ins and fade-outs here and there. The sound was recorded with a zoom h2's rear stereo mics, originally 48000hz/24-bit wav. Edited and converted to flac using audacity. I hope you'll enjoy this sound and find it usefull.

A recording of dry leaves skittering across an asphalt parking lot around 2:00pm on a friday afternoon. I feel this recording captures the serene, but sad, sound of dry leaves in the fall being scattered about by a strong north wind. Recording made with the marantz pmd661-oade, and the incredible beyerdynamic me58 microphone. Since this particular microphone is a dynamic microphone, i had to crank my record gain up to 7. I was really happily surprised that the sometimes un-listenable wind-roar and wind rumble is barely noticeable on this recording. . . . . . Emjoy this autumn soundscape.

I recorded a pretty gnarly storm on 8/25 around 1:30 am. The cars are off the road but you still get that city reflection. I placed two rode nt5s in my living room windows and set them to record for about nine minutes. It wouldn't be great for an outdoor situation but it's a good "thunderstorm from an apartment in the city" recording. It's in 16 44. 1, stereo. Use it for whatever you want, no credit needed. -jp.

It's an awe-inspiring building, with soaring, tree-like pillars and flooded with color from the stained-glass windows. This is a recording, made 2022 june 14, of the hubbub of sound inside the nave with multi-lingual tourists milling about, taking selfies, and gazing upward in awe. The morning after christmas 2022 on hood canal. There was a king tide that came up over the stone wall. A king tide occurs when the sun, moon, and earth are in alignment and the combined gravitational pull causes water levels to rise dramatically. I took this recording right next to the pilings where the dock is connected. You can hear the water hitting the metal and wood as it knocks it around. The water eventually washed over the road.

When i first tested out my zoom h5 i began talking into the mic and then all of a sudden i needed a sneeze. I was about to stop the recording but then thought it would be good to record the sneeze to see how it handled my loudness. Well it coped very well and the recording came out perfect!so, here it is. I was playing around with my sampler fx today and decided to rig up my electric guitar. I use a fender american special stratocaster, hooked up to an akai s2000 sampler with on-board fx - distortion and guitar metal applied in real time, the signal then sent through to amplitube fx rack on my computer with vintage crunch setting. This is a strum of the lower e open. I recorded a number of stabs and thought this clip might come in useful.

A field recording i made in bruges, december 2013. While i was walking around the chapel at the béguinage, a nun started singing and practising the organ. It sounded beautiful but also quite spooky and ethereal. I'm afraid it's not the best quality as i had to improvise with the voice memo feature on my iphone. Around 15 minutes of a fireworks show i went to. You can hear many different types of fireworks go off, with crackling, explosions, bangs, booms, etc. In this. There are people and kids talking and laughing in the background throughout many parts due to this being a public event, which may be good or bad depending on what you would like to use this for. The fireworks were not very far away, which means that they do sound close. I even got covered in some ash during the experience. You do not need to credit me for this sound, use it how you like.

This recording was made at a canal when it was reasonably dry. The canal has a road running parallel to it and above it. The side of that road has a largish (30cm?) pipe that drains water into the canal. I made this recording by holding my zoom h5 portable recorder in this pipe, and recording with the inbuilt stereo pair of microphones. You can hear the traffic passing above with the zoom of the occasional fast truck, but it's muted and it's echoing around the pipe. There's a hollow rumble running through the whole track. I made the recording in august (spring) of 2021 in brunswick west, australia.

An old project (2017, 4 years ago) i never uploaded anywhere before. I hope that others will take inspiration from this. This is practically a sequel to "muffled warfare" that i never released, and have titled it so. Inspired by this war of mine. A collection of sounds muffled and mixed together to create a warfare soundscape heard from within a church. A lone individual sifts through the scraps of war, and checks the worldwide news from his radio. The war marches on around them, however, and he must move on.

A very typical sound-scape of an open field, bordered by the large shawnee national forest. A warm day in june, with a lot of birds, and, if you listen to the higher frequencies, in the background always there, are the ever-present insects. Recorded in june 2009 around 11:00 in the morning. Tempurature was about 78 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. This is also interesting in that it shows how, early in the summer, the bird vocalizations often are louder than the insects, but, as the summer goes on, this is reversed. . A pair of owls stationed themselves outside my half-basement bedroom window in colorado early this morning around 12am. Unfortunately i only had my phone to capture them with, but it still turned out alright, save for the periodic vox-like breaks when silencing background noise. The very unique call of the cuckoo recording on may 23rd, 2015 in southern illinois. This "singing" sounds like nothing else in the forest. They are not very common in this part of the country, so, i am very very fortunate to have captured this primal call on " tape ". This was recorded as part of a tracking shot for a project i did a few years ago. It starts off from the exterior of a fancy london pub around the primrose hill area, walking in to a fairly packed establishment. It tracks movement into different parts of the pub. There's fairly prominent music for the first half but it eases off to barely audible later on in the audio. A few minutes in, you'll hear the bartender announce the price (6. 95) a couple of times. Recorded on zoom h6 with x/y capsule.

I was just messing around in audacity, like i usually do all the time. I made a corrupt audio file, and i found this extremely weird sound. I got rid of all the white noise, which made it sound even weirder, then i slowed it down and got this sound. You can use this however you want. I'm not sure what it's even meant for, like something being activated, robot beeping, etc. Enjoy. :).

Lots of bangs, bongs, clangs and you-name-it-whats. Yesternight our theatrical trouppe had been disassembling the set; main part of it is a huge, multi-ton construction consisting of several dozens (or hundreds?) steel tubes - it looks like erecting scaffolding, but much more steady. Disassembling it is a chore even if you have 25+ people around. I have recorded the later stage: clanging tubes are dragged to the hoister in order to be brought down to the ground level and loaded into a truck. Speech is cut off (hopefully all of it). Have a good use of it.

This is about 2 minutes total. It is of an approaching long freight train passing about 100 yards away in it's entirety. Train was doing around 45 mph. There are no other background sounds, no traffic, no crossing alarms, no street noise, no airplanes, no people, etc. There are three diesel electric locomotives in the front, then about a mile of freight cars, then one diesel electric locomotive "pushing" from the rear (it almost sounds like a jet engine!). First takes are extremely near to glasses on floor, then followed by takes done about a meter away and at waist height. Glasses used were a pair of old metal framed earhook with polymer type prescription lens and an all plastic frame "blue light reducing" pair with plastic lens. Recorded on a tascam dr-05 linear pcm recorder around 11pm on 5/20/17.

Recorded with lifecam hd3000 you can hear kids playing outside my window, the neighbors' stereo in the apartment next door, their air conditioner, their vacuum cleaner after they shut down the stereo, they're tromping around and hitting the walls, a few distant birds, and one toot of a train about to come into town. It's forbidden for them to blow the horn inside city limits.

We got in the van and drove down a rural road in arkansas, united states. On the side of that road, we found whittington creek. Tiny waves lapping the quartzite pebbles (1-2cm diameter) on a beach at lake pedder. Recorded 21 march 2019, 3am, with the internal mics on a marantz pmd661. For noise reduction, capture a noise print around 0. 09. Exceptionally quiet night, no wind, no other sounds. The gordon river power station was 20 kms distant. Other mechanical equipment or vehicles greater then 50 kms. I could just perceive the electrical hum from the station (or from transmission lines), and so could my partner, but i can’t hear it on the recording. See also "tiny waves lapping #1".

A sample from a quick flight that i took with a friend on september 8th, 2015. Audio was recorded with a zoom h5. You can hear the engine start, then we idle on the runway for a bit, and you'll hear us make a proper takeoff at about 13:30. After that it generally sounds the same. You'll hear when i crank the level down after takeoff, but you'll be able to easily compensate for it if you're serious about needing sustained flight noise for a small plane. The plane was a 1964 cessna 172e and were flying around vancouver, bc.

Unedited recording made with zoom h5. Victorian style "twist" doorbell popular before electric doorbells. You twist the handle on the outside that rotates a double sided hammer onto the bell on the other side of the door. I could not find a recording when i looked. I initially made two recordings, i will likely make more later. This is a modern "cheap" recreation doorbell, as they are hard to find these days. I know some people with the genuine article on their home doors however i never get around to recording them. Recording done in theatre.

This is my first submission to the site. I've recently been exploring sound design a little bit more and thought i would provide something. Here is 15 minutes of ambient sound recorded around 5 am on october 10th, 2011. I used a shure sm58 microphone through a native instruments audio 8 dj interface. Without a microphone amplifier or my active microphone ready to use i ended up amplifying this about 52 db then removed the extraneous noise by 80% @ 40 db using the noise reduction plug-in in adobe audition cs5. 5. Finally, saving the result to wav @ 44,100 hz, 16-bit.

It has just turned 12, people all around are shooting off fireworks, including my 12 year old daughter and her pals, whom you can hear on this recording.
