I was demoing the new digital performer 10. 1 with a royer r-10 pair in blumlein array but wanted to check out one of the ribbons because it possibly sounded blown so i went ahead not bothering to create a new mono file. The mic was tracked through a yamaha mixer into digital performer via a motu 624. I have various cymbals including a paiste hi-hat and a zildjian ride which i bowed or scraped. There is an occasional tiny bit of noise from the hard drive, sorry. It has the hiccups. Some of these have an effect or two like a flange on one or more and a bit of delay but mostly you just hear the marvelous and very interesting cymbals!.

I tried out some new gear and methods! more mountainside rain! a complete storm from beginning to end with swelling and then waning rainfall, occasional thunder. Ms stereo bar on mic stand projected through open second-floor window, just under the roof eaves. Recorded july 20th during one of the mid-afternoon brief intense storms we can seem to get frequently in the rocky mountain foothills beginning around june. If you were listening and wondering, the direct sound of the thunder is somewhat occluded as i believe the storm was behind the overhanging roof and house from the perspective of the microphone array. The mountainous terrain and other objects in the field reflected some of that thunderclap, as well as the exterior wall of the home, and so this is all a little bit funky. "a mixture of abstract melodic ambient and strange processed radio stuff and ‘scanner’ style sounds which should be fun. Keeping in mind that i want people to be able to use them as easily as possible and inspired. ". Scanner (british artist robin rimbaud) traverses the experimental terrain between sound and space connecting a bewilderingly diverse array of genres. Since 1991 he has been intensely active in sonic art, producing concerts, installations and recordings, the albums mass observation (1994), delivery (1997), and the garden is full of metal (1998) hailed by critics as innovative and inspirational works of contemporary electronic music. To date he has scored 65 contemporary dance productions, including works for the london royal ballet and merce cunningham in nyc. In 2016 he installed his water drops sound work in rijeka airport in croatia, ghosts at cliveden national trust uk, and scored the world’s first ever virtual reality ballet, nightfall. He scored the hit musical comedy kirikou & karaba (2007) and narnia ballet (2015) based on the popular children’s book, philips wake-up light (2009), the re-opening of the stedelijk museum, amsterdam in 2012 and in 2018 released an app that measures the quality of soil in europe with live data with artist kasia molga.
