A foggy july morning. The recorder was placed on a rock about 30cm from the edge of the water which was moving very slowly. The waves were really shallow and soft. You can hear uk songbirds in the wooded area behind the recorder and seabirds in front of it. Occasionally you can hear a foghorn in the distance. Olympus ls-5, int mics, deadcat, 35hz hp @6db/oct, 5:30am.

Surround recording of the beach at brela in croatia. The recorder is situated directly on the shoreline, facing seaward, so the waves lapping onto the rocky shore can be heard directly in the foreground, further in the background, crickets can be heard, and further behind that, the occasional voice of a bather or the sound of a passing boat. Recorded with a zoom h2. This file contains the front channels, recorded with a mic-dispersion of 90°.

A bad readout of an excerpt from prosperous. The tempest act 4, scene 1, 148–158. Our revels now are ended. These our actors,as i foretold you, were all spirits, andare melted into air, into thin air:and like the baseless fabric of this vision, the cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces, the solemn temples, the great globe itself, yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, and, like this insubstantial pageant faded, leave not a rack behind. We are such stuffas dreams are made on; and our little lifeis rounded with a sleep. .

Recorded during riding by attaching a zoom h4n at my left leg. The xy-microphone pointed vertically direction to the seat/engine, so no spectacular stereo-sound, but different sound timbre on l/r. The exhaust had a rusted hole so it's not the original vespa-sound but more rough. Different styles of driving. Including starter and switching off. No sound editing was made, so maybe you like to filter away low frequencies (some little wind was behind the shield).

Main street in tourist costal city of dziwnówek in west poland. It's typical for cities like that: full of cheesy market stands. The game of coin-football, which you can hear ringing constantly in the background is also characteristic for polish coastal tourist areas. Many people (talking mostly polish language), and several cars are passing by. I am standing on pavement, and have thestreet in front of me and backside of supermarket behind me. The sound was recorded with zoom h3vr (ambix format).

Here is a recording done during the fireworks of san juan at the beachof barcelona, spain. I was standing in front of the mapfre building, between the building and the sea to be exact. Fireworks were being launched behind me from the beach and their sound was reflected off of the building in front of me. The effect you hear are thereflections of the building. The building is shaped to visually reflect the city back onto the beach. Hence each floor has mirrors in a 45 angle downwards, all around the building (look it up on google for details). The sound must be coming from different points each located further away, creating a kind of discrete doppler effect, i suppose, although i am not yet 100% sure what exactly causes this. I am holding the microphone sideways, so you hear the explosions on your right ear and the reflection traveling to the left. In reality, you hear the explosion behind you and the reflection traveling up along the building. If you are ever in barcelona end of june during "san juan", you should check this out!. Recording done with my zoom h2n and its internal microphones. Hope you enjoy.

This is a very clean recording (no voices or words that can be made out) of a 737 in flight from inside the passenger cabin. We were seated directly behind the wing. It's just a great recording of what the sound level actually is inside a 737 at altitude. It's a surprisingly low rumble and a true white noise. Enjoy!. - christopher c. Courter.

This was recorded as foley for a sound design / composition contract i took for a theatre company. We needed a train sound to signify crates of dead soldiers being shipped back from the front lines, to be processed and fed to soldiers holding encampants behind the lines. It was recorded in an arcade adjoining outbuildings of a factory converted to studio and office spaces. I excused myself from rehearsal to catch the recording shortly after learning a woman i'd been seeing for about a year was through with our relationship. I won an award in composition and sound design for the work i did for the play.

The following soundscape is the result of a capture sequence shot where the microphone is held in a fixed point choosing not to use motion or panning. There have not been used post-production tools used and the chronological development of events is preserved as it was developed during the 11:00:00 and 11:03:30 in the plaza santísima faz located behind the town hall of the city of alicante a tuesday in july 2015. Recorded by a zoom h5 recorderrecorded in 48khz 24bit wave. It would be nice if you share the results of what you’ve done with it. Keeping it aural!.

A recording made around 7:30pm at night in mid october of 2012 of leaves skittering across an asphalt street, making that unique, crackly sound. You will also hear a train off in the distance which i think adds to the sound-scape of fall. At 1:51 into the recording a car whooshes buy and with it, a cluster of leaves trailing behind it trying in vain to keep up. . . That's always been a wonderful sound sequence for me to hear. Recording made with my handy zoom h4n digital audio recorder using a rode ntg2 shotgun microphone. Enjoy.

This is a compilation of recordings from behind my daughter's house in dallas. Close to the rr track where they probably travel. But she seems to have a group of them near her who live there for at least part of the year. The 2 barks are from her late dog leo who she lost this year so i could not bear to take them out. Also i processed this audio with audacity and they started as mono. . . So i put them in stereo tracks. . . . Hope they are ok for some peoplealso you will notice that some parts are louder than others and i did not feel like normalizing volume. Aaaaooooooooo.

Tokyo outdoor night ambience. This is a recording of the shinagawa area of tokyo after 1:00 am. Crickets can be heard chirping in the distance, as can cars on a usually busy road. The trainstation is closed, but there is still some activity that can be heard as well as wind and other night ambient sounds. Recording was made on the 6th floor of a highrise apartment behind shinagawa station. 2 mics placed at a 120 degree angle were used. No filtering was used. The only editing done was removal of the beginning and end of this clip.

A sound i initially made for scp containment breach's ambiance sounds when i had first had the zoom h6 (2019 december, i regularly sound mod old games to gain learning experience of the encoding, the resampling quality of that engine and the internals and since then i've improved in many places). The actual recording is the pressure sound of water going down its sinkhole, filtered as to "muffle" the sound due to the design being that behind a wall and catching the attention of the player likely leading to their death by scp-173 but also was done to boost its bass and it gives a sort of comfortable, releasing feel.

Inspired by amliebsch's "voice from hell" sound, i decided to take a crack at making something similar. This was made with my own voice. If you want to know what it's saying, it's:. To invoke the hive-mind representing chaos. Invoking the feeling of chaos. With out order. The nezperdian hive-mind of chaos. Zalgo. He who waits behind the wall. Zalgo!. Just slowed and pitched down immensely and then with some added reverb to give it the creepy effects that i wanted to. I think it would make a really great ambiance to a creepy horror scene in some creepy abandoned. . . . Wherever you would expect to hear these kinds of sounds. Credits to amliebsch for giving me the idea!.

This is my own kaiju i made last year, i first start with the concepts. And now getting to the part on the sound on what will it sound like, so i watch any behind the scenes on how any kaijus like godzilla sound where made. So i use wooden chairs i found around my house slowly drag it that makes these noises, after every sound recorded, i go with a empty tuna fish can and after washing it, it makes a interesting sound, so i recorded that as well and mix both of those sounds together which makes this. And yes i'm working on a project that base on this kaiju.

One of my brothers came by spontaneously to say hello and he slammed the door behind him hahah. It was non-aggressive of course, the door is heavy and has to be slammed in order for it to be properly closed !. Little did my bro know that i was recording and that i managed to catch the door slam !. The house was dark, empty and quiet - he wondered wtf was going on lol. It sounds a bit distant, it's because i was in the bedroom and not in the entrance. This sound is natural too, which is perfect. This is a short wavefile of really bad drums and a crying baby. To be used properly, it needs to be turned way up. This sound has a story behind it - i made this up for one purpose, and one purpose only - to temporarily blast my long-term loud neighbors into realizing that 'they' are now the victims. They "were" relentless at playing loud music continuously, and it was a hot humid day,no air-con, and i had a lot of wine. That's all it took - so i blasted them(at an amazing close range)with 200+ watts of drums'n'babies, just long enough for them to figure out that this just might continue, and that it isn't a nice sound. Bottom line - the technique was highly effective.

This was recorded in the centre of oxford, near the junction between broad street and turl street, on 23rd february 2013. I was facing west along broad street with turl street, and the pavement, to my left. There are many different sounds on this recording including bikes being parked (i was standing near a bike rack) and ridden, cars lurking for a parking space, dropping people off and turning round (broad street has a car park in the middle of it), plenty of different people walking past and talking, and a big issue seller. There is the occasional bit of wind noise, but not as much as i'd feared (luckily the wind was behind me). Recorded with a marantz pmd661 with built-in microphones.

This is a short, dissonant loop made with a neapolitan mandolin. This has been recorded with an sm7b into a rme interface, and quantized to 148bpm in logic pro x. This is a dry file with no other processing. I used it on a couple of old-school hip-hop beats to trigger effects or completely butchering with distortion for some extra textures. I thought it might come in handy to rap producers out there! if you do something with it, i would love to check it out!. I was recording an acoustic version of a song called "closer" by my band dead rituals, and a friend let me borrow this old neapolitan mandolin. I made some random noises by picking behind the strings at the end of a take, and i decided to sample it!.

I'm at the corner of 5th and kansas not far from kair 93. 7fm studios. This sound starts with the band from part1 departing and a truck passing. Children talk and yell and a man yells something. Another band approaches. A woman seems to tell someone to say cheese in the distance. The file ends when the band gets a bit too loud for my microphone. Recorded with goldwave with an asus laptop in my backpack and a microsoft lifecam3000 poking out of it facing behind me clothes-pinned to one of the handles of the pack. Unfortunately microsoft no longer supports their lifecam apps so it's not possible to turn down the internal mic gain.

Our neighbors fought a lot. Usually at around 2am and it would go on for about an hour or two. Besides being angry and annoyed, my girlfriend and i were always curious as to what they could possibly be fighting about. I had the idea to record them via a long mic cable stretching down the hallway, strategically hidden behind a few pieces of wood, to their apartment door. My plan was to one day play this from my stereo at a loud volume around 2am. As i later thought this through i realized that this would only disturb my other quiet neighbors and was a fairly selfish act. Anyway, i used a $100 audio-technica stereo mic and recorded it directly into my computer as an. Aiff. They seem to be arguing about a stereo and someone not loving the other. It's rather sad. We no longer live in that building so i have no idea what became of them. I hope they are happier now. Enjoy.

A long recording on board the "green car" of the jr tokkaido line from atami to shinagawa. A "green car" refers to the first class cars on some long distance local trains. The ride is smoother and the cars are generally much quieter. The cars are generally empty but, this was at the end of a 3 day weekend, so the car was actually quite active (i'll try to get a quiet one soon). You can hear the ticket attendant, the conductor's announcements, station arrivals and departures, passengers getting on and off the train and settling in and having conversations. At some point you can hear the guy behind me eating senbei (a crunchy japanese rice cracker) - that's a little annoying, but there might be some usable bits in there if you're good at editing backgrounds. But like i said, i'll try to get a less busy train next time. Recorded with 2 stereo mic pairs and unedited.

This file was recorded on november 19 2013 at london's euston railway station quite close to the arrivals board. It was achieved using an olympus ls-100 digital recorder with cad m179 microphones attached to a jecklin disk (see wikipedia) to obtain the best sound possible. As opposed to quasi-binaural recordings where the user attaches small diaphragm microphones to his/her shirt collar (my usual recording method), the jecklin disk can be mounted on a semi-fixed object such as a floor-standing microphone stand which it was in this case, and left for a few moments for the best possible outcome. Using a jecklin disk means that there are no minute movements from a person trying to stand as still as possible, and for some unknown reason, this setup is able to differentiate in front and behind sound image although i personally do not know why this is the case.

A conversation that happened in the kitchen. Warm for the time of year, a man steps in to play basketball on a corner paved lot. Just one basket and no refs, the two free-throws he is offered are almost unheard-of. Maybe some of them didn't like his looks. Likely too they know what he does for a living. Likeliest of all he was playing well, but for sure the woody that won't quit had come to call, and they probably liked that least of all. So he steps up to the foul line and the first shot zips the net. So does the second one, but even before it gets there, someone jumps in behind him, grabs hard and and zips his pants all the way down. They aren't around his ankles, though. Close one, he's standing on them. Worse, a local crowd has gathered. Only the stunned aren't laughing or pointing or cheering. You put your pants back on and go home, what else can you do? game over.

It was time to mow the lawn, and it was a beautiful day for mowing. 80 degrees and sunny. Not much breeze at all. For the production: i took the zoom h1 out and set it by the porch about 2 feet up off the ground. Recorded at 96k 24bit. The low cut and agc were disabled. Once recorded, i finished it off with a small amount of airwindows "air" with the 22k tap opened all the way up. For the mower: i used a 21 inch 140 cc "550ex" series briggs & stratton gas walk behind push mower. When i finished mowing my yard, i approached the recorder up to about 2 feet, then i cut the engine. I start it again and let it idle in close proximity for about 8 seconds, still at a distance of about 2 feet, then cut the engine one last time. I'm sure this could potentially come in handy for those outdoor scenes where you could use some distant neighborhood activity or a close-up start/stop. Enjoy!.

(recorder: zoomh4npro 2018)(microphones: binaural roland cs-10em in-ear monitors). As these are recorded using binaural in-ear mics, i purposefully don't turn my head to keep the sound clean and coming from the same direction. The amtrak pacific surfliner winds it'd way up and down the pacific coast coast. This train is known for spectacular coastal views. Here you can hear this high-speed train come screaming through burbank's downtown station (traffic can be heard on i-5 in the distance). You will hear a security guard walk behind me just before the train comes through. He was one of our trusty transpo officers making sure i wasn't up to no good with my zoomh4n device. Thanks for keeping us all safe officers!. The train makes a pass from right to left and i kept recording so you would have some room-tone at the tail. Enjoy!. Christopher c. Courter.

I tried out some new gear and methods! more mountainside rain! a complete storm from beginning to end with swelling and then waning rainfall, occasional thunder. Ms stereo bar on mic stand projected through open second-floor window, just under the roof eaves. Recorded july 20th during one of the mid-afternoon brief intense storms we can seem to get frequently in the rocky mountain foothills beginning around june. If you were listening and wondering, the direct sound of the thunder is somewhat occluded as i believe the storm was behind the overhanging roof and house from the perspective of the microphone array. The mountainous terrain and other objects in the field reflected some of that thunderclap, as well as the exterior wall of the home, and so this is all a little bit funky. Mid-side stereo recording:large diaphragm condensers mounted on octavia stereo mic mounting bar:akg perception 220 mid (cardiod) (on top, upside-down)akg perception 400 side (in bidirectional mode) (on bottom, facing left)sound devices mixpre-6 preamp+mixer+recorder (ch1+2 paired to ms stereo, gain @ +21db, fader @ unity, balance at mid/side center) w/48vdc phantom power applied, on-board mid-side encoding and monitoring in l+r, 24/96khz stereo recording. This is a submission for sarah belle reid's collaboration prompt for her forthcoming electroacoustic opera. It comprises a dry recording of a male voice reading the following original text describing a moment from a dream:. "this is a story about dreams. It is not about a specific dream, or rather while it takes place in one dream it is about many. From time to time in my dreams i am in a city. Not a particular city, like paris or chicago, but the events of the dream happen in a setting which includes tall buildings and crowded streets and views of the sun setting behind a busy skyline. One time, while having such a dream, i was standing on an arcing bridge over a body of water like a river or canal. The late afternoon sun was to my left, and the warmth of the sunlight contrasted with the cool breeze off the water. As i looked across the curving expanse of water, i was mesmerized by the bright reflections of the sun on the water, on the glass of the windows, across this expansive space. I realized with a start that i recognized a cluster of buildings across the way. I had seen them before, in another dream. In that dream i had been a different person. Rather, in most all of my dreams i am in some way myself, but entangled in a moment from some other life, surrounded by characters and pursuing concerns that are alien to my waking being. In that moment, in this dream, i came to understand that all my dreams that happen in a city are happening in the same city, the same geography and architecture holding dozens of episodic lives i may have between sleeping and waking. ".
