The sound of st mary le bow (london), a. K. A. The bow bells, ringing stedman cinques, as a practice. The zoom h4npro was placed above the bells, in the base of the spire, on a thin wooden trapdoor. Fairly lenghty recording (13 mins), but gives plenty of time to select from. Take a small section from the start for the traditional "rounds" where the bells sound in descending order (in terms of pitch), or select from the bulk of the recording to get some traditional english style change ringing. These bells are known as the bells white called dick whittington (mayor of london) back when he tried to flee, and also as the 'great bells of bow' in nursery rhyme 'oranges and lemons'. Use away! this seems to be (imo - that of a proper bellringer) the best recording of bells on here, so please do use it!!.

This is a seamless loop of a semi-rare instrument called the ukelin, out of tune and played incorrectly on purpose. It was given to me as a gift today and i had to sample this thing. This is before i tuned it, bowed across the strings you're expected to pluck and strumprocessed with dmg channel comp, voxengo elephant, internal daw eq, and valhalla room. Multiple loop sections overlayed/crossfaded relooped, then overlayed, crossfaded and relooped again.

I made this arrow strike sound using a horse whip and a school ruler. Edirol r09 hr with homemade primo em172 capsule microphone.

Plucking and pulling a rubber band to get some variation in the sound. Originally recorded as foley for a giant slingshot release. Recorded with a zoom h4n.

Took a violin bow to a chinese guzheng and the results were pretty great. Good for ambience, drones and creepy stuff. Recorded with blue spark and blue bluebird condenser mics through a scarlett 6i6 interface. Uncut with a small glue compressor to minimize spikes.

Big storm orchestral.

The "concrete cello" pack is a collection of scraping, scratchy and droning improvisations on the cello focussing on the creation of sounds to be used as base materials for future compositions. They were originally recorded in 2019 to be used in as sound design elements for the documentary "hotel regina" by director matthias berger for which i composed the music. Part of the impetus of this sampling session was to create cello sounds that would be remiscent of construction machines. (if you look on the geotag you can see the machines, well, sort of). Cello bow swipes through the air.

Clean notes played on a home-made diddley bow. Sampled with an electric pickup and a little added reverb to make up for lack of sustain. Seasick steve inspired me to construct a diddley bow (it ain't hard). All you need is a length of wire, 4 or 5 ft of two-by-four, some timber nails, an empty bottle and a hammer.
