I've been meaning to try and capture that magical, melancholy feeling of the late summer and early fall of the midwest woods. This was recorded in the shawnee forest in southern illinois on saturday september 28th, 2019. Equipment used: zoom f4microphones: lom usi pro omnissennheiser mkh 416sennheiser me66. Enjoy the soundscape filled with plenty of birds---but, birds that stay here during the winter.

An eight minute long soundscape i made for an episode of an audio fiction podcast. Intended to give the impression of a strange and otherworldly empty void, and to mildly imply sci-fi machinery with a spiritualist undertone. For getting the feeling of megapower when whole village shakes you need a speaker system that can generate at least 100 watts at as low as 10 hz. I have a 800 watt sub which i can only use when cats and wife aren't in the house.

My first sound recording for my new sound album. My stomach is feeling all grumbly! it continuously seems like it hungrily and sometimes angrily rumbles like a monster, because it is very empty, and i had no food for over 50 hours. And i had to wait a little while longer to eat something.

Do you ever have a paper bag lunch, but you were raised with a lack of funds-- you have, a lack of money as some would say, but you have no proper way to take your discomfort for the severely unsatisfying, unappealing lunch you have to eat every single day. An ice storm moves in to the deep woods of north carolina on 01/30/2014. As the small particles of ice and sleet fall through the pine trees, they land on a bed of pine straw on the ground below. This is a processed soundscape originating from two seperate soundscapes; one during a winter night near a hill and one at a basketball practice. The title of the piece originates from the fact that in this piece i try to create this feeling of coming in and out of “reality”, that illusion that sometimes we are watching distantly or from another reality with yet some other moments that we are being really in the moment. The whole feel of the piece sounds to me the most part dystopian, however anyone can have different interpretations of sounds just as we all have different perception and associate various sounds to different things.

I recording made near some woods of the wind ebbing and flowing on an unusually mild day in late november of 2013. What i find unique about this recording is a lone cricket calling out at various times of this recording. . . Makes for a nice, almost melancholy feeling. It is almost like the cricket is not quite ready to hide away for the winter and is taking advantage of a rare 70-degree november day to call out as if to say "hey, i'm still here, waiting. . . In the grass. ". With headphones on, works wonders in clearing your head. . . The eerily quiet soundscape of a small midwestern town during the covid-19 shutdown. . . This was recorded in town, on a friday night (april 3rd, 2020) at a time when there is almost always more traffic, people and families walking and talking on the sidewalks. . This recording started at 11pm at night. . . What a strange, weird eerie feeling of this track. You will hear a lot of steady wind gusts, dry leaves being moved around by the strong southerly flow. . Equipment: sony pcm-m10 recorder sitting on a small tripod about 3 inches from the ground. . . I had to really crank up the gain on this one because everything was so quiet---almost as if the neighborhood was holding its breath. . . . Hope you enjoy this unique ambiance.
