This is a free sound design. Sound picture of a room with machines. A sound experiment with samples that were created previously in different ways and ways, as well as samples created for this piece. A lot of granular synthesis and filtration, equalization and convolutional reverb.

Some synth sound i made maybe about a year ago. With actually a really simple soft synth, the fl studio wasp xt. Just got that synth to a certain pleasing setting, then put an lfo high pass and flange and the right amount of distortion. Enjoy.

Made this with the fm synth in caustic 3. Just hit record & started turning knobs. Even though its almost a simple synth, it definetly has enough for endless possiblities. // its a 3 iscilator synth w/ a few fm settings.

Created and formatted by walker farrell for use in the make noise morphagene. Utilizing a make noise modular system to create short recordings of pulsar, glisson, and trainlet synthesis, and recorded into the morphagene for modulation, layering and re-sampling. Video demonstration here!.

This is the sound-signature of many of the problems with digital audio equipment, a source sound of now-unidentifiable character was mangled using a selection of iterative granular resampling, timestretching and recombination techniques, almost all of which produce noisy artefacts, intermodulation artefacts and a particuarly weird sort of very noisy geomtetric comb filtering.

A collection of 8 plasma rifle-style single shots, inspired by the plasma rifles you hear in the terminator movies. Each shot is slightly different so there is some variety. I created them by layering single gun shots with other sounds and then running them through a granular synthesizer with some effects.

This is a recording of a vitamin c tablet dissolving in a cup of water. Recorded with an edirol r-o9 and a nice hydrophone. By lifting the hydrophone in and out of the water some very nice filtering effects where created. This sound has many applications for sound design!.

Soundscape of some pads. . Strange how the midi was created. . Used a granular device to create some sort of glitchy effect, then just converted that "melody" to midi in ableton, added stock ableton sound. And post processed to give it pad and ambience.

Nice moody soft piano loop at 160bpm, might work for liquid dnb vibes, use it how you like!. Piano was spitfire labs soft piano and put through a short reverb processed with a granulator. Enjoy :). A reel for the makenoise morphagene with each splice having two separate sounds with radical or subtle differences on the left and right channels. Great for stereo/split processing, a mix of tonal and atonal sounds made in ableton live with heavy use of madrona labs aalto and kaivo plugins. Additional plugins used:labs soft pianonasty dlasoundhack pitch delay and spectral compandtd tapewormu-he protoverb.

Broken transmission pads: c2 note, random gabbled modulated sounds using absynth 5. Sampled into ableton with a bit of effects, compression using psp compressor2 and psp warmer. Picture yourself being abducted by a highly advanced alien race, you're trapped inside one of their crafts, being far far away from earth at this point, i guess this is a soundscape that reminds me of it, created by experimenting with various free plugins including dtblkfx and thesis2b, both amazing tools on their own, more than capable of giving you glitchy squelchy hi-tech sounds.

I recorded some radio noises and guitar amps noise grounds with my tascam dr-40 then i processed them through additive, granular synthesis technique in logic pro x. Just some recording of a dried, brittle chili pepper with little seeds inside - up way way close to the mic (a zoom h2n). Some suggested sound design use cases: run this through granular fx for a nice drone texture. Use as an impulse response for a convolution reverb (then run tones through the convolution). Use as a trigger in vcv rack, allowing it's peaks to fire off samples or synth pulses. Or just use it plain within your next experimental acousmatic piece hit single.

A high-pitched, metal windchime, sent through some granular processing software. The reel is divided into two, long halves: one with the sound playing forwards and one with it playing in reverse. This means i can easily switch from forward to reverse without tuning issues, simply by applying cv to the morphagene's 'slide' control.

Sound recording of a two tier mini waterfall into my small fish pond. Recorded with a tascam dr-07 mk ii. 24 bit, 44. 1 khz, stereo. First 10 seconds is the raw recording. Note the 60 hz hum due to the water pump being just under the water fall splash area. The last 20 seconds is the processed audio using ableton live 8 affects rack and the following affects. 1. Notch filter – 60 hz applied two times. 2. Lp filter –knee at 1 khz3. Hp filter-knee at about 3. 2 khz4. Granular delay – bubbling sound5. Chorus audio effect-snap, crackly sound. 6. Reverb-cave echo affect-high wet/dry7. Utility- for stereo width.

Clean, dry recording of a smartphone touchscreen being rapidly tapped as if a message was being written on it. Could just as easily be used as sounds from using (writing, playing mobile games, browsing, etc) a tablet or really any relatively small touchscreen device. Tapping speed and length between taps varies throughout the recording, but overall i tried to make it sound as natural as possible while still offering options for more granular placement. Recorded with an akg p170 into a tascam 208i audio interface at 48khz/24-bit. Microphone was positioned 5-6 inches away from source. A 120hz high-pass filter was applied to remove unnecessarily pronounced bass frequencies.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer.
