About the possibilities of what can be done with the human voice in a recording studio. The haunting call of the pileated woodpecker, the largest woodpecker in the united states. It's quite an experience to hear this loud, rattling call break the stillness of the peaceful woods. You can also tell these beautiful birds around by looking for fairly large, rectangular holes in the trees. Recorded with my zoom h4n recorder and using the internal, built-in microphones. The location was the shawnee national forest.
Recorded at tea, a museum in santa cruz de tenerife. I was invited by dancer masu fajardo to create some sound ambients for a dance piece she was doing there, we decided to use only the sounds being created by her body and her interactions with the space. Here we can hear her running around a big hall, taking breaths and shouting. Recorded with a zoom h4 n.
I have been in my bathroom, and i started the water running. After i shut it down the faucet started making crazy noises. I than run for my recorder and i have captured that crazy modem-connection type of sound. All happened on 14th of october 2020. You can hear my unstable breath and my dog "focus" (i love him) barking in the background.
This was recorded in a university building in melbourne in 2018. It was after hours, in the evening, so the building was mostly empty. I was in a hallway that had lots of hard surfaces including linoleum floors. I could hear a baby crying in a room that was several metres away. This recording is mostly reverb and its very atmospheric. I just recorded it with my smartphone, but it was such a great sound that i had to get it!.

Stereo sound made by csound where we reproduce a sound that has been previously worked on, in which you hear a glissando that oscillates from one channel to another covered by white noise and we work on it, putting a butterbp filter to be heard more by one channel than another, a reverb and an interaural time delay. All this reflected in a score that our sound sounds 5 times in delayed time intervals.
I let off fireworks inside a silo. Unfortunately the best audio i got was from the gopro inside. For "man of la mancha" i needed the sound of don quixote hitting the stage while off stage fighting windmills. I dropped a sandbag a few times, and added the sounds together. You can hear the slight reverb from our walls. I wanted the slight echo effect of the stage, so that the audience thought he really fell.

We hear the size of the space at first then a passenger announcement and eventually trains letting off compressed air, trains arriving and departing and more announcements. Finally, some passengers passing by can be heard speaking.

This carolina wren was braving a very cold, gusting cold front in early january. Recording made in a small midwestern town using my zoom h4-n recorder and its own internal microphones set at a record volume of 80. **note that since there were some strong north winds, you will hear the wind/roar in the background, but this wren just seemed oblivious to it. .

Tying shoelaces: a close-up listen to a very subtle sound when two pieces of string is being tied around each other. You can hear the fumbling of hands swooshing the string around each other and a harder sound of when the knot is being pulled so that it doesn't come loose. Can be used for dramatics and overexaggerating. Recorded with the zoom h6, rode ntg.

I recorded this piece in the hope to catch a bird sound i was hearing when i sat behind my desktop. It gave me this nostalgia feeling i had as an child when playing outside. Stereo field-recording of early morning (ca. 7:30 am) traffic on a rainy weekday in the little english town of goring-on-thames. The street is quite busy with traffic and has been mic'd close-range, giving quite a wide stereo image. One can clearly hear the rotten weather this clip was recorded in.
4th of june 2016 thunderstorm in pécel, hungary at 5pm recorded by sony icd-ux512 dictaphone. You can hear the rain slowly coming toward us. The storm was also involved with a funnel cloud and a downburst.
My wife bought me this cool remote control helicopter for my birthday, so i recorded it flying around the room. This is a crow picked up by dreamtalk recorder, a brilliant app for iphone/ipad/android. It was early hours in the morning and it was outside my window. I have had to amplify the file quite a lot to make it easier to hear. I thought it sounded fed up in its tone, i've not heard one exactly like this before.
I live next to a car repair place and they have a couple of hot rods that they fire up now and then. This is a '55 chevy and to me the idle sounds like a dragon breathing. He does a couple of slight burnouts and you can hear the echo off the buildings. Recorded with my yamaha pocketrak and edited with sony vegas with one track duplication. An atmospheric and mostly mellow walking recording in lower east side, nyc. There are many metal access doors to the streetside businesses that are built into the sidewalk and that is the banging that you hear as people walk over them. Clips also has a few snips in it.
