A pluck on a jew's harp. Recorded late at night in my bedroom on a samsung mp3 player. I enhanced it to the best of my abilities in audacity since the original recording had a low bitrate (64kbps mp3), the volume was low and it had a lot of static noise. Me trying to make some sort of sensible rythm on a jaw harp for a project i'm working on.

This is a vargan (jaw harp) sample (16 bit / 44100 hz/. Wav). This sample was recorded by myself in 2017 in the north-west of sakhalin with the aid of michail chayka (a nivkh musician who played jaw harp) and his mother n. K. Chayka.

While cleaning up i found a cd-r with harp samples that i recorded in lengfeld a few years ago. Recorded with zoom h2 ,processed with audacity. Here you are.

The basic sounds are three samples ,taken from my kawai-k1. I resampled them,denoised them and put them into my yamaha moxf6-synth.

I searched for a long time to find a jaws harp sample and eventually found one and successfully extracted a few notes from a very old appalachian folk song field recording, well out of copyright. I sampled a single note, which then fed ok into a midi keyboard, allowing me to effectively play jews harp melodies. The result was pretty ok.
