Following the latest ‘dare the community’ i’ve finally hooked up my dirt cheap rtl software radio dongle to the formerly disused ‘masthead amplifier’ on our roof. Here are some english truckers(?) chatting over cb radio. They seem to be talking about one of their mates growing a beard and suggesting they ‘give him a quran’.

I recorded this ringtone from my then-typical motorola ultra classic cell phone in early 1997. This version has tiny fade-in/fade-out, about one second of leading silence and two seconds trailing silence for looping. I suggest amplifying it for use on a modern cell phone.

Some more of that couple next door. They're not as loud as they're use to but they haven't stop doing what they do. There will be more noises of them to share. For this one, the sex parts are from 0:00-5:30. The rest are just some extra of them talking after they were done enjoying their pleasure. Some parts of the woman was very soft. You can hear the guy in a few parts. This audio along with the other ones were shorten and edit with audacity and other software.

I've benefited from freesound in the past so i wanted to give something back. I created this audio sample of the black speech of mordor (a section of the ring poem), as part of a cinematic orchestral lord of the rings piece to add flavour to it and wondered if others might find a use for it in their own projects. The sample does have added reverb but to my ears this is not excessive. The phrase is:-. Ash nazg durbatulûk,ash nazg gimbatul,ash nazg thrakatulûkagh burzum-ishi krimpatul. This translates to:-. I needed a sound of someone falling down some stairs, so i grabbed a pelican case (took the camera out of it of course) and dropped it down the stairs a few times while my mate was holding a zoom recorder at the bottom. At one point the case hit my friend in the leg, but don't worry, he is ok.

One of a series of sounds i made using a small squeeze toy that just happens to be shaped like a cob of corn. I felt like the expulsion of air made a nice swishy ui sound. Recorded with a rode nt1 into a universal audio arrow.

A set of two types of beep. A singular beep, and then a double-note beep. Either one could be used on their own, or they can be combined to create abnormal patterns. These beeps can be used for various electronic items like alarms, transmission equipment, or hospital equipment. Created through beepbox, using the preset chiptune sample instrument.

Drawing curtains: in the sound you hear curtains being drawn from one side to the other giving a harsh "shhhhhh" sound. There are different variations in the speed in which the curtains are drawn as well. Recorded using the zoomh4n and using the rode ntg1 condenser shotgun microphone. A low shelf was added to this sound to cancel some handling issues.

The sounds of when you unplug an audio cable and plug it back in. Recorded like this, it was kinda ridiculous but very fun:unplugging and re-plugging a 1/8" to rca cable from a phone -> used one of the rca outputs -> rca to 1/4" adapter -> scarlett 2i2 -> protools.

Quiet, consistent city ambience: traffic at street crossing, some people, airplane, one loud bang. Motor rumble of starting/stopping vehicles, some distant voices, honk, shot/bang. Recorded with tascam dr100mk2 (built-in cardiods 58mm 90°, gain h7, 80hz-hp), no processing. Recorded on an april evening from a 5th floor balcony in berlin moabit.

The cricket is in northeast china very popular in summer fields. This sound is from my feeding pet a green big one in winter and it's named winter cricket by the artificial breeding technology. There lot of people like to feed cricket for listenning and enjoy it's in beijing china for long time ago. It's fun in the lifetime.

Here is a clip i recorded using a canon gl1 and a audiotechnica shotgun mic(unsure of model number, a cheap one i'm sure). The clip contains thesound of me clinking a fork around inside of a bowl (sounds likesomeone eating) and pouring water into a glass as well as a bowl. Thegain might need to be increased as the audio is low.

Took a ride on a historic steam engine in the lake district (england). This was recorded from inside the carriage while in transit. Some background talking but a lot of good mechanical clunking type sounds. This one was recorded pointing the mic at a rattly window.

I recorded stop and go traffic on coldwater canyon one morning on my way to work. Nice variation of traffic that's moving and traffic that's just stopped and idling. Could be used for freeway traffic jams, etc. Recorded with: sound devices 702t, beyer dynamic mc930 mics.

Vcv-rack and a machine composition patch - or generative patch. Minimal but some of the voices are constantly "doing things". . . I tried to add some sort of steady beat to this one. Wanted to make it less wild/wierd. Quantizer? what is that. Let the virtual synth decide.

Wooden stick: the sound of a wooden stick falling on the floor. It bounces a bit around. Only one stick falling. Recorded with a zoom h6 (rode ntg-2). Recorded in a room with good acoustic. Can be used in the scenario of a drum stick falling down. Or wooded weapon staff.

My 1st recording with my marantz pmd661, with enhanced preamplifiers by oade brothers. I used my two matching stereo samson co2 microphones with the input level on 7. Recording made around 9pm at night on august 1st, 2014 in a small midwestern town. The chorus of cicadas and tree frogs is very steady on this one.

A one-year-old american baby girl fusses and cries over a dropped toy. Various perspectives as the baby turns away from the microphone, puts her hand in her mouth, etc. Recorded in 2011 at 48khz / 24bit with an electrovoice cl-42 shotgun mic into a zoom h4n portable recorder.

These are samples from the new korg electribe emx2 music production station not the best recording quality but some nice sounds anyway the weird naming is due to the autoslice function in renoise wich i used to separate the samples from a one shot recording.

This one is easy to do but hard to explain. . . In order to make this sound i pucker up my lips so that my upper teeth are against my lower lip. The i breath in softly which makes that cute noise (that's also why you hear breathing against the mic after. ) hope you all like ;).

This is a slightly too-loud recording made on a mid-afternoon weekday bus trip in suburban shanghai. One can hear the automated announcements, the voice of the ticket collector and other passengers, the traffic outside and the sound of the bus accelerating and braking.

Series of sounds in one file, starting from opening a cassette and placing it in the player, playing a bit of a song (it's my song so there's no copyright to worry about), fast forwarding, and playing again. The file ends with removing the cassette from the player and placing it back in the case.

This is the sound of an inland vessel on river rhine, near mannheim, germany. You can hear the rhythmic and fluctuating vibrations of the diesel engine. Seems to be an older one. Unfortunately i oriented my zoom h2n wrongly (90° to the right). So most of the noise appears on the left ear.
