Here i altered or distorted the sound of the traffic to make it a more ambient sounding loop. Giving it a drone sounding noise.

This is the digital belgian railroad crossing alarm sound. The belgian railroad company infrabel replaced all the mechanical bells at railroad crossings with a pulsating digital sound that they claim to be more efficient and safe then the previous analog bell sound. Infrabel made this recording available online as part of a media campaign about the replacement.

For week 10 "musical piece" assignment for the audio signal processing for music applications online class. There are three layers, panned in stereo. Each syllable of each layer was randomly pitch shifted to a note in the minor scale using the harmonic plus stochastic model. Each harmonic track was thickened with extra harmonics during the synthesis process too to make it extra weird.

This is from a recording session trying to create laser weapon sounds. I just used the same technique as ben burtt used in wall-e (with the slinky and the contact mic). This is unprocessed, no eqs, compression, reverb or anything was added. I used a long piece of curled up aluminum wire which i hung from a tall structure at my house and the main object i used to oscillate the wire was a drum stick. For the recording i used the blue icicle and recorded into reaper. The contact mic is my own creation from a diy i found online (roughly €5 to make). This is heavily inspired by the urban myth and/or creepypasta called the backrooms, which have a very distinct atmosphere to them. This is my interpretation. However, this isn't exclusively for backrooms-related stuff! so by all means, if you're simply in need of some interior ambience of any sort, that's also why i made this for you. No advanced processing was used to achieve this sound. I recorded an electrical box in my garage for the buzzing. For the 2nd layer, i turned on some fans in my room, and made a long mono recording of the white-noise. I then split the recording in half, and used each half for the left and right channel, giving it a stereo sound. I then spent an hour leveling all of it because i'm a perfectionist. Yay. Hardware & software used:-audacity-zoom h4n pro (buzzing)-rode nt1 (fan-noise).

I was super inspired to post here again after an insane coincidence happened!. I was in an online class (thanks, covid) where we were supposed to redo all the sounds and music for an animation we chose. We were encouraged to use sound libraries and freesound. Org. Shortwave wide-band digital emission recorded on july 15, 2014 at 15:17 utc in am mode using 2 instances of the online remote controllable short-wave receiver located at the amateur radio club etgd at the university of twente the netherlands. Left channel was recorded below the central frequency, at a frequency of 10187khz, right channel was recorded above the central frequency, at 10191khz. This was an experiment to see if selective fading would create stereo effects, as the lower frequency part of the transmission would be heard better in the left channel, and the higher frequency component would be heard better on the right. I used goldwave to put the separate recordings into 2 channels of the same file, after i synched the recordings by ear at 1/16 playback speed using a set of 2 particularly strong lightning static crashes as a guide, trimming off everything that came before the first strike in both original recordings, then inserting silence in the range of a few milliseconds until the stereo separation was as close to zero as i could get it. I wasn't as successful at that as i've been with experiments with voice recordings from simultaneous broadcasts on 2 wavelengths that i haven't posted here.
