Recording of rain in a small town with some thunder, cars and birds. Plane passing by in the sky. Recorded with sound devices mix-pre-6 ii and two mxl 603s mogami custom mics in din stereo. Recorded in 192khz/32bit. Post editing with rx8: low/high cut with eq to reduce rumble and noise, also gain increased and cut to length. Converted to 320kbps/cbr mp3.

Recording of a small plastic toy ball which, when moved, makes a rain-like sound. Recorded and processed at 24bit 96khz using the tascam dr-40 linear pcm recorder. Processing: gain-staging and soft high and low frequency filtering. No eq boost or cuts anywhere else. Also de-noised.

Thunderstorm developed over pécel on 6th august 2014 and produced about 5-6 mms of rain with heavy rainfall (large raindrops). This only one-thunder thunderstorm was recorded by my sony stereo dictaphone.

Severe thunderstorm arrived to pécel, hungary after the hot days on 8th of july 2015. It produced 15 mm of very intense rain and wind, and some lightning.

I recorded some rain outside my front door. This is a tuned (a440) sample which you can use to achieve a sort of soft-yet-textured synth string sound in a virtual instrument like ableton's sampler. I think adding a little fake vibrato to it with multiple conflicting volume lfos sounds pretty nice. You're free to use this sound without attribution. A nice little recording done from my apartment window in bucharest during a lovely april night. A car passes, several thunders, varying in intensity and distance.

This was recorded in chicago suburb of highland park. What you are hearing is the sound of the streets during the middle of the day. This recording was taken with the person recording familiar with the area. After listening back, the person recording heard several new sounds that were unfamiliar.

In this sample you hear a recording from inside a well sound insulated room, directly under the roof of a house. Strong rain hints the roof and produces low frequency muted sounds. In the background you hear the constant noise of the rain, coming through the window. There are also a few raindrops hitting the glass of the window. The sample was recorded using the built-in stereo microphone of a zoom h4n recorder. It was slightly processed to remove unwanted low and high frequencies which were not related to the actual recording. The exciting thing about recording and cataloging natural sounds is how you get nice, unexpected surprises. I was up early recently one spring day and did not have any real plans to record, until i stepped outside with my coffee to see what the weather was like and was nicely surprised with the light, steady spring rain that was falling in my yard; during the whole time this energetic carolina wren kept on singing through the rain. I rain, got my recorder and recorded a full hour of this peaceful pattering. You hear the drops hitting the concrete patio, the shingled overhang and a plastic chair.
