Something i accidentally got while messing around with voxal voice changer by nch software. It was a background noise of my mom closing a door, and i decided to put it in reverse and i couldn't help but notice that it sounded like a low "whoosh" transition. So i opened it in wavepad and added echo + reverb and voila.

For the 2021 production of christmas carol i wanted to add some special effects. To create a ghostly voices saying ebenezer scrooge i recorded 10 different cast members, then i used audacity to add a little reverb and filter the voice using the frequency transform of a recording of wind. Then i played the voices while the wind was blowing.

Clean notes played on a home-made diddley bow. Sampled with an electric pickup and a little added reverb to make up for lack of sustain. Seasick steve inspired me to construct a diddley bow (it ain't hard). All you need is a length of wire, 4 or 5 ft of two-by-four, some timber nails, an empty bottle and a hammer.

Some generative campfire sfx made with sunvox. The crackling sounds were made by taking some highpassed white noise, ring modulating it with some more white noise, and then using a noise gate to usilate the loudest 'crackles'. The rumbling was created using lowpassed white noise. Everything was sent into a reverb and a stereo expander.

This is a quick fire sound i made using qubodup's "swing 25" public domain/cc0 upload on this site. It's a bamboo stick swinging, which i layered and toyed with to get the results here. For those curious, here are the steps. * i took the file into reaper, and slowed the file's playback rate to 31% of the original. * i then duplicated the file three times, for a total of 4 tracks. * track 1 (lowish gas-burner sound):- reverb (drum-room impulse response, a medium-sounding reverb with a slight deadness to it. In free impulse loader reverberate le, stretched impulse to 150% and set attack time to 0. 218s). - eq (-8db bandpass near 200hz, rising back to 0 by the 1k mark. Low-pass applied at 5. 8khz). * track 2 (lowest of sounds, like a bassy gas-burner):- chorus effect. That's it. (specifically acon digital multiply, a free plugin, set to the "romantic" preset). * track 3 (not as low as track 2, but closer to track 2 than 1)- reverb (a large hall impulse response. No adjustments, ie. No increased attack or stretching like for track 1. ). -chorus doubler (free plugin duet, preset: "basic doubler. " same effect as if i had doubled the track and pitched one up 6 cents. ). - chorus (free plugin acon digital multiply, preset: "romantic. "). * track 4 (most flame-thrower, whooshy of tracks. )- reverb (impulse response says "hall medium," but it's a thick, even echo from start to finish. Makes the sound go from its default "whoosh" to a flamethrower noise. - chorus doubler (duet again, preset: basic doubler). - chorus (acon digital multiply, preset: "romantic. "). Master bus:. - compressor (tdr kotelnikov mastering compressor, the free successor to the tdr feedback compressor ii. Preset: punchy. Thresh: -20. 9, soft knee: -1. 5, ratio: 2:0:1, attack: 7. 0 ms, release peak: 70 ms, release rms: 165 ms, makeup: 1. 5 db, output: 2. 0 db. That's it.

An actual new production instead of old stuff! made in june of 2020. A dark intro implies the humming engines of the spaceship you're in as you're traveling at speeds unimaginable. Slowly the ship starts to spring to life. As you open your eyes, slow but huge bands of light sweeps across your cryogenic sleeping pod, as if being scanned. The pod starts to move while you're still in it, going through chambers filled with machinery and bleeping computer stations, until it stops in front of a huge closed door. Suddenly, your pod opens up as well as the door. Your eyes are greeted with the majestic sight of a gigantic control room with windows as far as the eyes can see, galaxies fills your field of view, a beautiful synergetic view of the grandeur of space and the hundreds of lights of the control room, welcoming you to a new adventure. 2 simple chords form the basis of a textural composition supplied with sound effects. Plugins used: ni kontakt 5 with atom hub's the planet, doom by sampletraxx, space by rigid audio, ni absynth, and massive vst synths. Extra sound effects: shocking signal and ui designer by sampletraxx, heavily sampled and mangled. Effects: izotope mastering plugins, a bunch of fl studio stock reverb and eq, guitar rig 5, blackhole reverb, replika xt, raum reverb.

The chain: technics hifi-system, multi-cone speakers, audix reference microphone, focusrite preamps. To use it like intended, just load this file into a convolution plugin in your master insert. I made changes in the impulse response of the fisher k-10, i used a demo of the fisher spacexpander on youtube that had a warmer sound, i did eq match using small sections of the video where the audio is dry or wet, i did this sin several times and the result was fantastically similar. Another very old production, i think this one's from around 2009 even!. Using the reverb of a chord i made on my guitar i created a drone-y, washed out sound. Added some subtle bitcrushed drums, cymbals and a vst synthesizer plays some notes to fill it out a bit, and a dark brooding bass-like instrument pulls up near the end of the track.

This is an attempt to recreate the sound of a gunshot. At a distant and medium distance. The sound consists of two layers. In the synthesis, white noise with different filtering by layers was used. Reverb was not used. The final processing is equalization and a bit of overdrive.

Electrical hum created by my guitar lead resting on the table top while connected to a line 6 box going into my laptop. The line 6 software was also giving it lots of 'cavernous hall' reverb. Quite stereo too. It is a g as far as i can tell but slightly sharp so try shifting the pitch to get it in tune with other instruments.

We hear the size of the space at first then a passenger announcement and eventually trains letting off compressed air, trains arriving and departing and more announcements. A solo violin sample from edirol orchestral was used a base, using pitch bend and then layering against pitch shifted copies of the original. Then lots and lots and lots of reverb and maybe other effects. I spent way too long on this for no certain outcome but actually it was perfect for the radio drama i was theoretically producing it for.

Stereo sound made by csound where we reproduce a sound that has been previously worked on, in which you hear a glissando that oscillates from one channel to another covered by white noise and we work on it, putting a butterbp filter to be heard more by one channel than another, a reverb and an interaural time delay. All this reflected in a score that our sound sounds 5 times in delayed time intervals.

I was showing my 1 year old my recording studio. He was laughing and talking so i recorded him to play it back. His reaction was as wonderful as i could have hoped. This was recorded in my home studio, on a cad e100s microphone. Recorded in audacity, i copied the clip, lowered the pitch, stretched, added reverb, and reversed the audio. I also normalized to -3db.

A sound of a tightening wrench (a bike repair kit) being spun around to produce its distinct ratchet like sounds. I made this using an alto recorder and then adding reverb to it. I have made it longer or shorter by just adding or taking away pieces in the middle. It was made to convey a sense of foreboding.
