A recording made february 24th, 2019 in a residential section of a small midwestern town. . . The stiff north winds are rattling the remaining dry leaves. . . You will also hear the subtle singing of the birds that always greet you in late winter. . . Birds like house sparrows and starlings. From time to time, you'll hear the tinkly, nice sound of some wind-chimes hanging on the front porch of some house. The skittering of dried and old leaves scooting across the ground also makes an appearance. Enjoy this cold late-winter soundscape!. The very unique call of the cuckoo recording on may 23rd, 2015 in southern illinois. This "singing" sounds like nothing else in the forest. They are not very common in this part of the country, so, i am very very fortunate to have captured this primal call on " tape ". Equipment used: marantz pmd661, with stereo samson co-2 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet from the ground. I was set up on a trail on the edge of a large forested area which eventually leads down to a huge lake. Recorded around 6:30pm on a mild evening--partly cloudy and temp was 74 degrees.

The exciting thing about recording and cataloging natural sounds is how you get nice, unexpected surprises. I was up early recently one spring day and did not have any real plans to record, until i stepped outside with my coffee to see what the weather was like and was nicely surprised with the light, steady spring rain that was falling in my yard; during the whole time this energetic carolina wren kept on singing through the rain. A la Nanita Nana, is an eighteenth-century Spanish Christmas carol here performed by the chorus of U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own", led by Colonel Thomas Rotondi, Jr. (Leader & Commander) and CSM Debra L. McGarity (Command Sergeant Major) c. 2010. It is done bilingually, first in Spanish, then in English. The English translation appears to have been done in house by the Army, as I can find no evidence of any other usage. CSM Debra L. McGarity Modifications Levels adjustment - a basic linear tweak, with the lower notes being slightly quieter and the higher notes slightly louder. Also removed a slight tapping noise in the beginning, before the singing starts.

Just having some fun with the 6 inches of snow that we received. The first part of this is me walking/breaking some ice that had formed in a low area and then me walking on snow, which has a frosty glaze on top of it. Recorded with the handy/zoom h-4n recorder using its built-in microphones. The built-in microphones can be adjusted to pick up sound from 90 degrees around the microphones to 180 degrees. A small group of people collected hay on a meadow by means of sweeping the hay into mounds and placing it on hay racks by means of pitchforks. A couple of guys set up hay racks by knocking a sharp, short pole obliquely into the ground to be used as support. Next, they used a crowbar to make holes in the ground for the large poles which were assembled in a row. Finally, a short oblique pole was knocked into the ground on the other side of the high poles and steel wire was attached t one of the oblique poles,then attached to the long poles by one loop on each pole until it was attached to the oblique pole at the other end. This is a recording of an escalator at the main bus station in helsinki, finland. I heard it making this sound one day. It was quite loud in the space and i heard if from far away. It sounded like a street performer playing an odd instrument. I imagined that a drummer would have had fun jamming along with this. I missed the opportunity to record it that week, but luckily the thing wasn't fixed the next week when i was again at the same place. This was recorded with iphone xr, so it's not super quality (i actually took a video really close to the escalator, hoping the video recording gives the best sound), but maybe somebody finds some use for this (the sound can likely be well isolated). This is as unprocessed as it can be, straight from the original video.

Just a quick recording before class today. Recorded from a tascam dr-07 mk ii stereo in mp3 192 kbps 48,000 hz, pointed a bit to the sky toward a florida mockingbird about 2 meters away. If you listen closely enough, there's some crows in the bg too. Ambiance sound is the sound of a busy divided highway about 500 meters away. I processed this sound in sony sound forge a bit to remove some of it. Just beware, the sound file contains a slight camera double beep at 9 and 15 seconds, although for student film purposes i don't see any penalty for it. A summer evening in a vineyard by the german town of freyburg on unstrut. The recording abounds with natural background noises (wind in trees, birds, insects). In the foreground, a little bird is singing, giving it all it has. I am no bird expert, but if somebody knows what species it is, i'd love to know. At 3:22 into the recording, the tower bells of the keep of neuenburg castle, located on the hill opposite, toll 9 o'clock. They do this by tolling a high bell 4 times, once for each quarter of the full hour, followed by a lower bell tolling the hour 9 times. The recorder is located on the top of the vineyard, facing across the valley between vineyard and castle. These are the rear channels of a 4ch surround recording. Recording conducted with a zoom h2, mic's set to 120° dispersion.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording. Equipment used: zoom h4n recorder using the internal stereo microphones set on 180 degrees for the greatest sound capture.

I just love this deep rich harmonic sound with some phase modulation! i've tried to capture it the last month and half and finally managed it. There's quite a lot of air traffic (planes and helicopters) here in prague - písnice, but most of the helicopters have poor sound. It is bell 407 helicopter ok-alb in black/beige color operated by blue sky service (http://www. Ok-alb. Com/). Flight mode-s code a37a9ea. First it approaches with the deep harmonic sound, then it flies by overhead with a more noisy mid-spectrum sound. Recorded on zoom h4nsp, this time with 4gb sd card which has far lower startup time than 32 gb one (like 12 secs compared to more than a minute). Besides the helicopter itself there are some birds singing, insects buzzing and some rumble from the wind (i didn't manage attach the deadcat windshield so quickly). Basic frequency: ~ 33. 87 hz. Ask whatsoever thou wishest of him alone; seek whatsoever thou seekest from him alone. With a look he granteth a hundred thousand hopes. He healeth a hundred thousand incurable ills, with a nod he layeth balm on every wound, with a glimpse. He freeth the hearts from the shackles of grif. He doeth as he doeth, and what recourse have we? he carrieth out his will, he ordaineth what he pleaseth. Then better for thee to bow down thy head in submission, and put thy trust in the all mercifull lord. The language is old fashioned because the bahai have special requirements about maintaining the integrity of their texts. It is a verbatim quote from an english prayer book. In farsi, for instance, i believe that the masculine gender of god is absent and is really non-specific.

This is a recording i made on sunday november 4th 2012 of the gentle, droning sounds of insects that were singing in a marshy area near the shore of a small lake. This is a very typical ambiance of autumn in the southern portion of illinois. If you listen carefully, you'll hear another very typical fall sound, the cry of blue jays in the heavy woods which surround this lake. One of my favorite sound-scapes. I made this with my rugged and dependable handy zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. I literaly had it sitting on a small log only about 15 feet from the water's edge. Because the insects were not very loud, i did have to crank up my record volume to 86 on the scale of 100; this means you will hear a little bit of slight wind rumble, but all-in-all i think the recording paints a good picture of the early autumn landscape and everything slows down and winds down for the bitter winter ahead. This sample is a vocal "arh" sound, pitch d. It was created by singing "arh" into a dynamic microphone, with pop-screen and recording, through an e-mu 1820, into cakewalk music creator pro version 2. The sample was then roughly trimmed. The sample was then imported into wavelabs lite where the dc off set was removed, the sample was normalized and the trimmed exactly. This sample was then imported back into cakewalk music creator pro version 2, compressed slightly, then duplicated 5 times. Each of these duplications was given slightly different attack and release times, different pan and different eqs. 1 sample was given a multiple voice chorus\flanger effect and another auto-pan. A 6 sample was then added before the main sample, with reduced gain. This sample has increasing volume envelope and "moving" pan envelope. All 6 samples where sent to the same master out where "chapel" style re-verb and compression was applied. The mix down from this was then imported into wavelad lite, dc off set removed and normalized.

Autumn is a time for slowing down and allowing yourself time for reflection and contemplation. The accomplishments and mistakes from the previous year. Especially if you make it a habit of getting out all year long and exploring nature, autumn can be a much-needed change in sensory soundscape. . . . After a busy spring listening to the many different warblers which come to visit and a busy summer immersed in the busy sounds of life----both human and natural----autumn's subtle, quiet muted soundscape can be almost like a re-birth for the ears and the soul. The insects, which had taken over center stage since august, are still singing---though now with a quieter volume and a more even sleep and though-inducing tempo. . . . . . . . Brisk winds from the north can be heard more clearly now----swishing, rustling the weedy, tan edges of fields. . . . . Hinting at the bite of much colder masses of canadian air waiting on deck for their turn in the months of november, december and january. . . I made this recording on the evening of october 4th 2014 at the edge of a field which was bordered by thick stands of oaks and pines of a major national forest. . . . . I couldn't help but pretend i was linus waiting in the pumpkin patch for the great pumpkin to arrive!. Recording made with my marantz pmd661 and a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone on a tripod about 3 feet above the ground. My input volume was 6. I hope you enjoy this soundscape as much as i do.

While working on another audiobook, i decided to make this sound. It's 38 voices, each saying different things, panned around and mixed together, creating a "wall of sound" that speaks like 38 radio channels at once. Recorded with a zoom h2 via usb into ardour2. Mixed and exported to flac with ardour2. Ps: it's all polish (with some possible german shout-outs), but the amount of noise makes it almost completely incomprehensible. Only a few words that are being yelled in a different voice can be understood. No sound repeats here, no recycling - every voice and every second of this recording is unique. Yes, it required quite a lot of work to record so much talking in quality! it's almost an entire audiobook squeezed into 5 minutes. Strangely (or not) listening to this makes my mind rest, because the noise blocks all other sounds from the environment - making my mind free of stimulation, allowing for sleep-like rest state. The signal is so much modulated that it appears to be not modulated at all - like static you get from a fm radio of you tune it wrong. The brain receives less data when you listen to this, than when you sit in a room hearing even faint (but distinct) noises from outside, other rooms, other people or yourself. This is sound masking in action. A very interesting psychoacoustic property of human hearing. Also: this is an interesting material to study of my voice's spectral energy distribution while speaking (as opposed to singing). As you can see using the spectrogram view, most energy is present in the band below 600 hz.

A late summer soundscape that is a favorite of mine. . Microphones set up in some mature woods about 60 feet from a large lake on labor day weekend. Most of the background is the insects, which are very obvious during this time of year. The swelling of their volume is nap-inducing (*at least to me in my opinion. )here is the midwest this swelling and subsiding of the insect wave tells me that summer is just about starting to go back downhill, after a feverish peak. Despite the covid-19 of the year, nature does not seem to have changed her soundscape. Life goes on in the forests. The birds, whose job of raising young is over, are still there. . . They're just resting and relaxing and listening to the insects as well i'm sure. Now of course you will hear a few prominent birds in this captured moment:(1) a great blue heron squawks out starting at 1:17 into this piece. (2) the alarm call of a red-headed woodpecker can be heard at 2:14. Other than that, just the insects singing their hearts out and the assortment of birds taking secondary place during this time of year. This was recorded on sunday september 6th 2020 at 8:30 in the morning in the forest in southern illinois. Equipment: zoom f4, microphone: sennheiser mkh 8060. Enjoy this audio snapshot of the subdued -- yet vibrant - sound color of late summer, finding comfort in the fact that, within four weeks, the colors of the leaves will be changing to oranges and reds and yellows. But, for now, there is still life to live in the insect and bird world.

Hi. This soundfile was recorded on 03. 06. 2017 in szczecin, nw poland (gumience district to be precise). The time of this recording is from around 3 a. M. (when the sun was allready rising) till around 7:30 a. M. What's funny about that, is that i turned my recorder on and layed it on the windowsill (display up) on altitude around 5 meters (first floor), (the recorder is facing ne direction) because the birds were allready going crazy!, and after some time i felt asleep, and the recorder was left on. There are many many kinds of birds around, cause there is a big cementery near by, with lots of trees, and some wild fruit orchard too. I had this one moment, when the birds were so active, that let's say they spinned it me around, and worked me up to a beautifull spiritual moment with their sounds, and then i felt asleep. Later through the recording you can hear me snoring, you can hear my alarm clock going on (and that haven't woken me up too;). The bass resonance of cars passing by makes this recording a bit heavy in some places, and the wind made it's mark too, but that shoudn't be a big of an issue here. As i listen to it now, so much things happened while i was asleep. . . [ 3:30 a. M. !: some people are singing and speaking, and you can clearly hear one of them saying: "kurwa, grubo", which means - "f**k, heavy". Later on, the neighbours weren't sloppy too;). Hearing such recordings doesn't give you the liminous feeling of the place where it was recorded. You only get audio here, not the vision, the light, the brightness, the movement, the actions, and the space, the physical elements, only the best can imagine (so if you don't have such an imagination, pm me and i can send you a photo of the place where all this took place). Anyway, i hope that the birds will keep rockin' their solos, and the bees will keep visiting all the flowers around forever! (who knows, i might become one of them sometime;).
