This is for a video game i was making, but i figured it would be a good idea to share this with everyone. This is supposed to be the sound of a wooden container being violently smashed open, such as a barrel or a box, or even possibly a wooden wall. I borrowed a few sounds from the site, tweaked a little of course, and also added some powerful white noise effects to indicate a hard smash. With some layering with twigs cracking and pieces of wood falling on the floor, i think it sounds pretty authentic. . . Or as authentic as it can get!.

This sound is a mix of analog sound and digitally created sound. I recorded the sound of a coffee machine. Then on audacity, i generated a tone and modified its envelope. I changed the levels, added effects as reverberation and echo. I put melted at opening and closing in purpose to pretend something was taking off and landing. At first i wanted to create the atmosphere of a spaceship. But after that it looked more like a vacuum noise. I tried to modify amplification and added again echo and reverberation to make it sound more like a weird ufo. These short files are random selections from a 9min composite audio file i put together from an accidental recording made when i left my sony camcorder on in my studio. They are part of the same series posted elsewhere on thefreesoundproject site titled "accidental recordist". There is some hiss/background noise which is part of the street front urban scene of my studio. There are two chimes - one low pitch constructed of four aluminium tubes and wooden clapper (gift) and the high pitch one of small stainless steel discs (purchased in maui from craft shop). I did some basic cleanup of low level background noise and applied plus one level of loudness using adobe soundbooth cs3 to get some clarity.

Watt a sounds and wildgooses. Here i share with you another nature sound collected in may 2014 on the northsea-island of speakers eye (spiekeroog). Sounds of the tidelands 1 and 2 and flying wildgooses were recorded in may 2014 too. The wadden sea is famous for its rich flora and fauna, especially birds. Hundreds of thousands of waders (shorebirds), ducks, and geese use the area as a migration stopover or wintering site, and it is also rich habitat for gulls and terns. Stereo recording made in the generator hall of tate modern between exhibitions. The end of the hall furthest from the entrance was empty, so i ran the recorder for a couple of minutes just to sample the reverberation. Because it is a school holiday in the uk, there were large numbers of children in the gallery, especially on the upper deck bridge about 25m from the recorder, and their voices are higher pitched and their behaviour extrovert. The space is large, so the echoes give a lot of atmosphere. Recorded on zoom h2. Transferred to audacity and high pass filter with breakpoint of 180hz used (12db/octave) to remove the hum that is prevalent at this site. +6db of amplification used, so peaks at -18dbfs.

This was the maiden voyage of the orion spacecraft, and one of the very few delta iv heavy launches. There i was late a night. I was turning my computer off after editing my site. I was silenced by night. But there was a storm a brewin' i opened my bedroom window and put my ear to the icy wind. I knew then this wasn't the usual mellow wind. I ran down the stair with my zoom h4n equipped, went through the garage into the black of night. I sent my gain levels to 60 and with only a foam wind shield i put it between to to boards of wood to act as a wind shield thus allowing my to capture the wind slicing through the trees. With only adjusting the gain levels slightly in post nothing else been done, allow you to add you own effect on it.

This is a recording made in the room of my apartment in italy in the province of rieti, while i am testing a drone dji phantom 4 pro clone, purchased 3 days ago on the vova site, only during the test it suffered two accidents. The first 5 minutes for 3 flights everything went well, then on the fourth flight, as the drone was also without para-propellers, the first small accident happened, on landing he fell to the ground from the bed, then resumed flying for another two times. On the third flight there was a second bigger accident: first he started spinning the propellers against the wall for a while, then he fell to the ground rolling until he hid under the bed. This time, however, even after this great accident, the drone resumed flying normally as if nothing had happened. This recording was done with my iphone connected to the shure mv88 plus microphone.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording. I was super inspired to post here again after an insane coincidence happened!. I was in an online class (thanks, covid) where we were supposed to redo all the sounds and music for an animation we chose. We were encouraged to use sound libraries and freesound. Org. Quite simply a recording of me screaming in a humorous way (if you're looking for a scream sound effect for a project with a serious tone, i doubt this one will be suitable). Even though i'm a woman, i have a feeling this sound could be used for a male character too, probably one with a voice that's not too deep. I recorded this by mistake when i was just 14! me and my sister had just been recording something on my mp3 player, then when we'd finished, i accidentally pressed record again. I don't know why, but i responded by doing a silly scream before pressing the button to stop recording! weird reaction, i know. I was probably just trying to make her laugh. I kept the very short recording ever since and in more recent years, i showed it to a friend who found it absolutely hilarious! i realised this was a such a gem of a scream that i simply had to upload it as my first ever contribution to this wonderful site i've been using for years!. They are referred to as different things but overall a creepy, evil, raspy, breathy type screeching sound. I created this with a type of practiced scream on a blue yeti usb condenser microphone. My example/inspiration were the creatures in lord of the rings, fellowship of the ring. They are also called the fell riders and the black wings (when they ride the fell beasts), as well as the shadows, the servants of sauron, and the nine servants of the lord of the rings. Here are some recordings of some of my basic woodwork tools. I'll try and get better recordings in the future but i share a workshop and it is rarely quiet enough to get good recordings. All recordings are me working on a piece of 25mm thick walnut timber. Listening back has made me realise that all of these tools need sharpening!! :). The recordings are as follows:. 00:00 - 00:26stanley block plane fine shaving the edge of the timber. 00:28 - 01:33stanley 5m retractable tape measure, metal blade and plastic casing. Tape being wound out and drawn back in. 01:36 - 03:30milwaukee m12 battery drill. Trigger being pressed, chuck opening and closing and bits being changed. Drilling into timber. Driving screws into the timber and removing them again. 03:32 - 05:14lie nielsen crosscut tenon saw cutting across the grain of the timber. 05:17 - endgeneral purpose wood saw 'ripping' along the grain of the timber. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. This is a quick fire sound i made using qubodup's "swing 25" public domain/cc0 upload on this site. It's a bamboo stick swinging, which i layered and toyed with to get the results here. For those curious, here are the steps. * i took the file into reaper, and slowed the file's playback rate to 31% of the original. * i then duplicated the file three times, for a total of 4 tracks. * track 1 (lowish gas-burner sound):- reverb (drum-room impulse response, a medium-sounding reverb with a slight deadness to it. In free impulse loader reverberate le, stretched impulse to 150% and set attack time to 0. 218s). - eq (-8db bandpass near 200hz, rising back to 0 by the 1k mark. Low-pass applied at 5. 8khz). * track 2 (lowest of sounds, like a bassy gas-burner):- chorus effect. That's it. (specifically acon digital multiply, a free plugin, set to the "romantic" preset). * track 3 (not as low as track 2, but closer to track 2 than 1)- reverb (a large hall impulse response. No adjustments, ie. No increased attack or stretching like for track 1. ). -chorus doubler (free plugin duet, preset: "basic doubler. " same effect as if i had doubled the track and pitched one up 6 cents. ). - chorus (free plugin acon digital multiply, preset: "romantic. In front of my desk in my room is a wood paneled wall with a cubbie. It's about a foot wide, 10 inches from top to bottom and maybe 7 inches deep. I'm just guessing. Around this cubbie is a border of wood. In the bottom right corner under the border i have jammed one end of an elastic string that used to have glitter on it. It's from a christmas box of chocolates my uncle sent me last year. I stand in front of this cubbie whose bottom is at chin height, (i'm only 5ft1in) so my arms are above my head as i pull this string across the cubbie to the border on the left which acts as my only fret. The string is a few inches longer than the cubbie is wide, but when i pull it it gets longer so my hand is 3/4 along it's length as i pull back and forth across the border to tighten and loosen the string. No matter how hard i pull it never pops loose from it's mooring. The recording starts with me standing up from my chair. In the first part until 01:54 i am playing the string at maybe 30° from horizontal. It has a buzzy quality that reminds me of an african folk instrument i can't remember the name of. From 01:33 to 01:54 i'm trying to imitate a korean folk vibrato kind of thing. In the second part until 02:29 i am playing 45 to 60° from horizontal and it sounds like a full-bodied string bass with no buzz. In the last part beginning at 02:34 i am playing about 75° from horizontal across the top border of the cubbie on the left so it sounds buzzy and african again, and i'm just going crazy goofing around with a crazy bluesy rock sort of rhythm. There didn't seem to be any homemade 1-stringed wall-cubbie basses on this site so here is mine, have fun. I don't play it if mom is home because the living room is on the other side of the wall and she can't hear tv. Also my neighbor can probably hear it in the next apartment lol.
