I recorded this for an animated sequence i was doing that involved a bucket truck. I recorded a truck parked in a garage starting its motor, pulling out of the building, driving back into the building, stopping, hitting the air brakes and idling, backing up with backing beeps, idling again, and then honking its horn while pulling back out of the building. The truck circles the building again, pulls back in, hits the air brakes one more time and then cuts the motor.

I mounted the mic inside and on top of the car and drove trough the city, recording some ambulance, traffic, and a scooter that was tooting, later i turned of engine, opened and closed the car door and startet the engine, maybe you find it useful, let me know :). Stereo recording of about 5 lads skateboarding in a small square (custard factory, birmingham uk). Sound of wheels rumbling and nice meaty thwacks as the lads jump then land. They went around the square and some movement across the stereo image is audible. There is traffic noise from a nearby main road. Some comments and talking between the lads is audible but not clearly articulated. Recorded on a zoom h2 with the built in front microphones (90 degree nominal separation). Recorded as wav, loaded into audacity for removal of handling noise at start and end only.

Jet-ski being started on a lake in florida. Microphone on dock directed at jet--ski, jet-ski driven fast away for about 75 yards, slowly turned around, driven back to shore at more moderate speed. 909 kick with massive distortion and eqíng. Used the eks-9 vst plugin to emulate a 909 kick drum. Placed a huge load of different distortion plugins on different spores, to create a heavy distorted sound. In between those distortion plugins i used several eq's to manipulate the sound. I made this as a near ultrasonic sms signal. Created and edited with audacity, filtered with glame bandpass filter. If you hardly cut a pure tone, you introduce a whole lot of other frequencies to the signal at the cutting point. To avoid this after the cutting you need to filter the whole thing with a bandpass filter to ensure you have as little other frequency content as possible. It will audibly soften the start and the end of the sound. That's what i did here.

Recorded from line-in from a 13-year-old boombox tuned to the bottom of the am dial and moved around near the computer and printer. You can hear the base computer noise, then at 00:17 you start to hear the radio get closer to the printer which is off but plugged in.

This was hella tough to make! and i used this program that turns picture into sound. It has paint tools, and you start with a black canvas, you draw up a pattern on it, and depending on the color, position, size, quality, format and translucency of the marks and lines you placed, you get sounds. This is the sound of seagulls, ducks and other water birds competing with gigantic carp fish, and each other, for food on lake mead. It starts mellow and and grows into a full-blown frenzy with lots of calling, quacking, chirping, splashing, thrashing and slurping (from the fish). The hoover dam isn't far from this lake, so tourist helicopters occasionally pass by. I hope you all like it. :).

While recording narration on my blue yeti microphone, the cable came loose in just such a way that it started glitching and converted everything i said into weird techno music. In the radio drama big data, it was used to represent the end of the internet. You are free to use it in any way you like, but it would be super funny if you credit it to "broke yeti" as though that is a real band and help me confuse people.

The sound of water free falling off the edge of a flat roof. I opened the apartment balcony door and started recording. The fourth floor apartment is on the corner. The water was draining off the flat roof over the edge and falling directly from the roof to the ground. The recording equipment is a studio quality apex 460 multi pattern tube condensor microphone. It was located to avoid getting wet (!) and was about 90 degrees and six feet away from the sound source, just set in a few feet from the open balcony door.

Another night of hearing that couple next door. You can hear some of the conversations they have, but not really clear in some parts. Note that some parts of their conversations are cut out, but the dirty sounding conversation they have will be kept in. Around 2:50, is the sound of a door shut, that's when they're about to. . . This sound is recorded directly from one of my original 1938 98cc light motorbikes. This time is a express (manufaturer) sl 102 (type). The noise you hear is all specific. It is the fuel cock on selection, the flooding of the carburettor, suction of the engine, two tries to bring the engine to live with clutch action inbetween. Running on idle and two short openings of the throttle. Engine is shut off by using the decompression lever which is typical for this period of time and two stroke engines. .

Late winter snow storm last night in the detroit area 3-3-23 around 9pm est. Was attempting to record thundersnow but by the time i found my batteries the thunder and lightning stopped. Threw my zoom h1n under a plastic cloths basket just incase the thunder started back up, but no luck. This is a short clip of the original hour long recording. You'll hear, sleet, snow & wind.

At the close of the children's hospital telethon immediately after it was announced that more than $4 million had been raised, people on the phone banks started cheering, this as the closing credits were being run on the tv screen.
