An unexpected, crunchy "glitch" sound that resulted from mixing up the line in/line out ports when processing music from a cassette tape. Even though i mixed things up, it managed to spit out this sound.

Octave lower reproduction using morphagene. Erbe-verbe adds depth. Outs to x-pan. Rendered @48khz 32bit with markers for all you morphagene fans out there. A sudden, unexpected realization of the solution to a problem.

Recorded from tapping an ordinary trashcan and using audacity to add ring modulation, and various other effects. Good for sudden unexpected phenomena.

An actual recording of an actually annoying individual, unexpected but perhaps useful as an idiot you can shoot over and over again in some game. Or, maybe it's your grandma. . .

The very real sound of a wide leather belt, folded into a double strap and mercilessly applied with unnecessary and unexpected speed, and force. The impact was against a defenseless bare bottom. Mine. This was the only strike that had no expressions mixed.

Okay, this one has a strange story behind it. I don't remember why i was recording, but it was my voice (probably a narration,) and when i listened to it, this sound showed up at the very end. I was the only one home, and i don't remember a sound outside prior to pressing the stop button, but it was there. Weird, random, and unexpected, but neat all the same!.

I was trying to make some floaty meditation type music like people use for hypnotherapy and yoga and stuff but accidentally made something fractionally too menacing. To me it sounds like something you might have in the background of a scene where viewer is contemplating an unexpected cosmic vastness or an ancient alien artefact or something otherwise mindblowing but also potentially existentially threatening.

Here's a sound of me opening a beer can. The stages are separated, but you can edit them together if you want to have the initial pressure release and the rest of the procedure. Or you could take each part separately and make something completely unexpected from this recording. Captrued using behringer b-1 microphone into presonus studio 24c interace into audacity using pipewire on arch linux at 48khz 24-bit. The audio is unprocessed, each bit straight from the adc. Sounds of a 15-year-old dog with laryngal paralysis chewing on a rawhide bone in her crate. (very sad to me as lela is a beloved family member and near the end of her life, but maybe someone can put all this suffering and racket to good use. ) at about the 01:17 mm:ss mark, things get louder because i leaned the recorder up against her crate, near her face. Prior to that the mic was about 5' away, on my kitchen table. I apologize for any unexpected clangs. I didn't edit this file, just uploaded it. Good luck. I'd say "enjoy" but these sounds are pretty gross. :).

The exciting thing about recording and cataloging natural sounds is how you get nice, unexpected surprises. I was up early recently one spring day and did not have any real plans to record, until i stepped outside with my coffee to see what the weather was like and was nicely surprised with the light, steady spring rain that was falling in my yard; during the whole time this energetic carolina wren kept on singing through the rain. I rain, got my recorder and recorded a full hour of this peaceful pattering. You hear the drops hitting the concrete patio, the shingled overhang and a plastic chair. Zoom h4n recorder using the stereo built-in mics.

This sound was the result of a scary accident. I was looking at the view in the webcam of an open doorway leading into a dark hallway in my house, when suddenly this haunting feedback faded in and looped repeatedly, until i pulled the volume down. It was unexpected, and quite unnerving. I had to laugh about it once i realized what had happened. But that first moment had me expecting some ghostly apparition to come in from the darkness. Anyhow, it's just an accidental feedback loop. I've had it in my archives for about 20 years now. I thought it might be useful to someone else. Enjoy!.

This was all recorded in enumclaw, wa on july 4th, 2013. I used a yamaha pocketrak recorder throughout the day and into evening when the fireworks started. There's an old piano outside the music store and i just caught the end of a young guy playing some nice music. I then just walked down the street recording the sounds. You can hear me talking to a guy who's working for a local politician. The b-25 mitchell bomber flyover was totally unexpected and i was lucky to have had the recorder going. It made two passes right over me and i love the sounds of those engines. It was a great day. Please comment on what you will use it for. Thanks. :^).

Retro, slipping!. A slip with a retro-feeling to it, for example when the player character has walked on a trap and slipped. In other words - an unexpected slip! maybe the player character walked on a banana, or on soap?! or maybe the player character ran too fast?.
