I was trying to make a techno song for my friend that went horribly wrong!!! i converted her voice into midi, then opened the midi into sony acid and used refx nexus to try and make a techno song, but something went wrong in sony acid during rendering and it took 30 minutes to render, and this scary suspense ambiance was what came out of the failed rendering of the song. . . This is perfect for those scary movies you need to make. . . I hope you find a use out of my failed song attempt!!!.

Church bells ringing during saints week in valencia spain. They have somehow been muffled creating this eerie strange sound of something gone wrong, which reminded me and my wife of some zombie apocalypse soundtrack.

I recorded my voice while watching and listening to sad stuff to force real crying out of me. This way i can have real crying clips for stock instead of trying to fake it. Great single-speed diesel engine sound, loopable for any length background you need. This one happens to be at about 1200 rpm for a four-cylinder ford tractor engine. That said, i am living dangerously today because it's a field recording and i'm not saying where it was. Not because i can't, but because i frequently use the wrong door when entering or leaving the supermarket and i usually completely ignore the painted traffic directives in the parking lot. I recorded this with my zoom h2. Held the recorder the wrong way at first so for the first half of the recording you hear more reverb than direct sound, then realised my mistake and turned it the right way. I made some splashes with my hand so that it doesn't sound too monotonous. Some of the sound is water running into the bath, some - into the sink, i'm sure you can hear which is which. Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. The sound touches 0db one times, but is rather undistorted (at least digitally). Recorded with audacity @ 48khz/16-bit and saved as flac.

Alarm bell from a bank robbery. Taken from the 1956 film "no road back" starring paul carpenter and margaret rawling and directed by montgomery tully. From my understanding and research of copyright law, this film was never copyrighted, as it came out before july 1957, which is when the british first started to have copyrights for film and broadcast. Any films or broadcasts that came out before july 1957 in the uk are not copyrighted. If it turns out that for some reason i am wrong, i am happy to take this recording down, but i've looked into it pretty extensively and i'm pretty sure i'm in the clear here.

Incorrect rendered and untreated noisy stereo loop, unintentionally done with an amiga emulator (uae for windows). Extremely dirty and distorted sound. The unrecognizable source was the title song of "speedball 2: brutal deluxe" (developed by "the bitmap brothers", music by "nation 12"). The error was was most likely either caused by wrong sound emulation settings or buffer underruns. Left channel is mostly white noise, while the right one is more like a hard industrial beat. This clip was made because i was looking for a strong thunderstorm sound effect for a school play. I wasn't able to find one that was strong enough for what i wanted, so this. Mp3 was made in audacity from three other audio files from freesound - they are #s 27247, 2521, and 87472. This information is also in the 'comment' metadata of the mp3 file. As far as i can tell, this is the "strongest" storm available on freesound as of early february 2010. (i could be wrong of course!). If there is interest, i can upload an uncompressed aif of the audacity track (it'll take awhile) but i figured there was no point since 2/3rds of the files used were originally mp3's from here. Hope this helps someone looking for a long, strong storm with high winds, loud rain, and many thunderbolts! (the thunderbolts are duplicated throughout the file; the original file contained a much more natural and less angry storm).

While perusing freesound for a nice and dramatic sound or two of failures, all the ones i've seen were pretty wimpy, so-to-speak. So i decided to create a few failure samples on a music-making program called musescore. These are for big whopper failures (or "epic failures") and are very dramatic - they may also be used for a scary event in a film or play. It includes a short buildup and a loud dissonant chord at the end to create suspense and horror. For this project i used violins, violas, cellos, double basses, timpani, cymbals and brass. Enjoy!.
