On the day i recorded this, the weather was perfectly sunny, and mild -- temps about 60 degrees -- with very little wind. When i first heard this song, i was instantly reminded of a sewing machine. To make sure i got a decent level on this soft call, i did have to crank up the recording volume to about 85 on the scale of 100.

I recording made near some woods of the wind ebbing and flowing on an unusually mild day in late november of 2013. What i find unique about this recording is a lone cricket calling out at various times of this recording. . . Makes for a nice, almost melancholy feeling. It is almost like the cricket is not quite ready to hide away for the winter and is taking advantage of a rare 70-degree november day to call out as if to say "hey, i'm still here, waiting. . . In the grass. ". With headphones on, works wonders in clearing your head. . . Recording made at 6:30 at night with my handy / zoom h4 n recorder using the internal microphones, and of course using a very very stout wind screen. Enjoy.

An mp3 version of the 4-minute recording of an apartment parking lot in a small neighborhood with a busy nearby roadway - from a different perspective. Cars can be heard driving by, along with a faint humming with from some machinery and a small amount of wind. There is also some faint talking, laughing and coughs from a group in one of the apartment buildings, which can add to the effect. There are two instances when cars drive into the parking lot (about at 3:20 and 3:40), and shortly afterward a person walks by the mic. Recorded with the microphone of a nikon coolpix camera.

I'm at the corner of 5th and kansas not far from kair 93. 7fm studios. This sound starts with the band from part1 departing and a truck passing. Children talk and yell and a man yells something. Another band approaches. A woman seems to tell someone to say cheese in the distance. The file ends when the band gets a bit too loud for my microphone. Recorded with goldwave with an asus laptop in my backpack and a microsoft lifecam3000 poking out of it facing behind me clothes-pinned to one of the handles of the pack. Unfortunately microsoft no longer supports their lifecam apps so it's not possible to turn down the internal mic gain.

When you’re the one bowling, you’re not really listening to all the chatter around you; in fact your brain does its best to cancel it out (it’s called selective listening, google it), and so you really hear the clamoring of the pins as they crash and fall. Microphones don’t have any such ability; they just take in whatever sound waves reach them, and they don’t care either way about the relative loudness of those sound waves. So what happens in a recording like this is that even though it sounds like any ordinary (busy) bowling alley, the pins sound really far away in relation to the human chatter. A stereo recording made at 4:50pm on saturday september 12th 2015 of the ambience of a small town near a playground. Up until this day, the weather here in the midwest had been your typical high-heat high-humidity. But, the day before this field-recording was made the wonderful jet-stream had dropped down on us, a cool, mass of less-humid canadian air, making the leaves sing through the trees with the lifting of the northwest breezes. A gentle tinkling wind-chime can be heard from 1:05 to 1:20. Recording made in stereo with marantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me66 microphones mounted on tripods about 4 feet off the ground.

Recorded in sweden september of 2007 in a wet cold beautiful colourful forest, with all kind of trees, far away from any traffic or human sounds.

This is a recording made in the room of my apartment in italy in the province of rieti, while i am testing a drone dji phantom 4 pro clone, purchased 3 days ago on the vova site, only during the test it suffered two accidents. The first 5 minutes for 3 flights everything went well, then on the fourth flight, as the drone was also without para-propellers, the first small accident happened, on landing he fell to the ground from the bed, then resumed flying for another two times. On the third flight there was a second bigger accident: first he started spinning the propellers against the wall for a while, then he fell to the ground rolling until he hid under the bed. This time, however, even after this great accident, the drone resumed flying normally as if nothing had happened. This recording was done with my iphone connected to the shure mv88 plus microphone.

Upper maxwell falls, evergreen, co, at the top of the falls. Recorded a little before dusk, 2017-07-19. Recorded binaurally using sound professionals ms-tfb-2 binaural microphone headset, 12vdc battery box, sound devices mixpre-6 at 24/192. Postprocessing: digital gain, downsampled to 16/48. Flac: encoded. The rock formations here play appealing tricks with the sound of the running and falling stream. Facing out over falls dropoff, vaguely. A lot of digital gain (+30db?) was applied in postprocessing. The analog preamp was originally set to +21db on the aux-in (ch5/6) input, but this may not have been the optimal gain staging. The beautiful, simple call of the field cricket is one of my favorite insect sounds. In late summer though the huge choruses of katydids and cicadas often drown out the simple beauty of this love song. Later, as the season progresses into fall and the temps dip to where the cicadas and katydids no longer sing, these simple, beautiful field cricket calls still last up to the time that the days just can't stay warm any longer. I like to see how late into the season i can hear these guys---something just hauntingly mesmerizing hearing this sound and no other on a mild autumn day, after a cold night. . I was fortunate enough to capture this recording on september 4th 2013 in my backyard. Recording made around 4:30 in the morning with my h4n recorder using its internal built-in microphones.

Underhood recording of my renault 19 with oldish carburetted cleon engine (c2j). Double barrel webber 32 drt carb ~72ps engine. Start engine, tire skid, hard acceleration up to 6000 rpm and coast down to idle, several times. Throttle blips up to 7000 rpm. Mic: sony ecm-ds30p stereorecorder: sony mz-n707 mini disc, sp mode, agc: off. Wanted to test this cheap mic and custom made windscreen - this is my first car recording, and that's why i started with this cheap microphone, don't want to learn on expensive stuff. Still, i'm amazed how the recording turned out, it's $24 mic in not very silent area, yet it captured sound rather nicely. Windscreen (cost $0) turned out to be not that good :).
