Ian dury used something like this in "what a waste". . . It's the gurgling noise made when the last of the water runs down a bathroom sink plughole. Conveys almost as much meaning as a cistern flushing, but in a shorter time (smaller file size). As ever (with my stuff) no "noises off" and so ready for mixing!.

I played this ironfence to a church next to my house at latenight, the wind in the background gives a nice deep dimension to it, wind works almost like a sidechain tuch. Recorded with r-09, processed in logic 8 add. Reverb. East jutland, holme, århus, denmark.

Recording of a water stream in "les fonts del llobregat", next to "castellar de n'hug" (see geotag). Almost no background noise. The recording was made with a zoom h4n, and is part of the pack "fonts del llobregat" where you'll find similar recordings made at different distances from the river.

Using an inflated toy balloon in a bath full of water to create some interesting sounds. The balloon hitting the top of the water almost sounds like a drum, and my fingers on the wet rubber could be useful in a cartoony squash and stretch capacity. Recorded on a tascam dr-05.

I was just messing around with audacity recently and recorded a word "no". Then stretched it out using tempo stretch function (function that streches speed, but does not alter the pitch) maxed out twice in a row. That resulted in such a simple word stretched out to almost 5 minutes. Sounds rather scary and interesting.

I recording made near some woods of the wind ebbing and flowing on an unusually mild day in late november of 2013. What i find unique about this recording is a lone cricket calling out at various times of this recording. . . Makes for a nice, almost melancholy feeling. It is almost like the cricket is not quite ready to hide away for the winter and is taking advantage of a rare 70-degree november day to call out as if to say "hey, i'm still here, waiting. . . In the grass. ". With headphones on, works wonders in clearing your head. . . Recording made at 6:30 at night with my handy / zoom h4 n recorder using the internal microphones, and of course using a very very stout wind screen. Enjoy.

I was doing some field recording and it so happen that when i was out and about we had hail storm so i recorded from the start to finish. Whew! almost got hit by a hail stone as big as a pingpong ball. Yes, it was that big my car has dent all over, not good aye!.

The eerily quiet soundscape of a small midwestern town during the covid-19 shutdown. . . This was recorded in town, on a friday night (april 3rd, 2020) at a time when there is almost always more traffic, people and families walking and talking on the sidewalks. . This recording started at 11pm at night. . . What a strange, weird eerie feeling of this track. You will hear a lot of steady wind gusts, dry leaves being moved around by the strong southerly flow. . Equipment: sony pcm-m10 recorder sitting on a small tripod about 3 inches from the ground. . . I had to really crank up the gain on this one because everything was so quiet---almost as if the neighborhood was holding its breath. . . . Hope you enjoy this unique ambiance.

This is a very interesting sound to make. Luckely i knew exactly how to make this sound. I used leather jacket. I twisted the jacket back and forth moving it in front of the mic. The sound is almost identical to what i wanted. This was recorded at the open window institute sound booth in centurion, south africa.

Recorded in an almost empty train on a fairly even route section at a quite constant velocity, sitting in a cabin for six passengers with five empty seats, compartment door closed at around 8 pm. This only happend to me once in my life and it hurt(i went to the hospital after this attack). I used a device that can give me almost the clearest possible sound of my heart beat. Also i gave the very tiny parts where my heart was beating at 400-600 an extreme amplification because those parts are very quite.

Here's another crowd sound effect i did. Although it's quite a fake laughter, i tried to make it sound realistic as possible. I almost actually lost my voice since i kinda did them a bit too forcibly. Since i had to rest, i added another laughing clip instead of doing more laughters. All voices by me and it was edited and overlapped in audacity.

This sample was created by taping a razor blade to a contact microphone and allowing the blade to scrape against the edge of a record spinning on a turntable. The reverb was added in real time, so there's not a dry signal recording. Very reminiscent of tg's "hamburger lady" in some ways. Sounds like a human voice almost.

Two sustained voice samples i subsequently pitch shifted and layered for an ambient work (to achieve an 80's choir pad effect). The key is almost in middle c, but slightly off. . . Because i can't sing. The second, lower voice sample was recorded extremely close to the mic to achieve clipping; i wanted to get a buzzy, boomy sound out of it.

This is a background hiss my cheap microphone records when i use my laptop. I recorded with audacity. This one has spikes of static noise every so often, sounding almost like faint voices. It's creepy in my opinion. It can also sound like water or a waterfall running in the background, or a beeping futuristic computer in a spaceship.

July 24, 2011 was a historic day in japan. After almost 60 years, tv analog signals were terminated. I just can't believe it. My tube now shows nothing but sand storm. This caught my attention as an unfamiliar sound, and i actually had to investigate to learn what it was. It was the raindrops hitting some styrofoam bodyboards near a swimming pool, which at times sounded almost more like a hollow "pop" than a "drip. ". Created in flstudio 11 with lightly tweaked flkeys, flreverb2, jangly (almost tubular bells) wasp xt layers and a pitch bent formant for a bit of spookiness. The ticking noise and deep notes were generated by fiddling with morphine's presets. Caution: look at the waveform. Don't turn up the wick. This piece starts quietly but there's a sudden, loud, jump scare.

Long easy rain. Recorded from my front porch the evening of may 22, 2018. Almost half an hour; slice it up to use your favorite parts. Rain slows down around 3:00. Some distant thunder around 16:20. Look out for a few small ambient noises like splashes or traffic. A perfect audio bed under your sound design of a rainy scene. Or layer it to create a storm.

The bass drum was generated using absynth 3, as well as the other instruments that follow it. Within the software, i simply just generated a quick drum patch (for myself), which i manipulated over and over till i got several varations. I just happened to choose this one for this loop. General techno-trance and suitable for almost any genre in electronica. The loop is set at standard 120bpm for easy manipulation.

This sound was created using the risset tone generator in audiomulch. I added some timbral complexity using the shaper and granulator effects before running it through some delay and reverb. This particular sound has a dissonant, almost violin-like quality. Hopefully this sound might be of use for soundtracks of various kinds. It should be easy to loop, if you need it to be longer.

While i was on vacation, this two fellas just loved to bark almost all night long. Yeah, i know, some rest i got. . . :(so, at least i went out and recorded them with my zoom h6, xy mics, 44khz 16bit. They got pretty upset as you can see. There's some low frequency rumble at the beginning probably due to bad handling, sorry. Should be easily solved with a lo-cut, though.

All this time i´ve been doing a ton of drum samples from almost every edm subgenre, so, i took a transient from a house club kick and a sub bass i made by miself, compressed the hell out of them, distorted the sub bass and added the special sauce, the izotope ozone 8 to make a cool jungle terror kick. This is how lost my shoes at the mexico city metro, it was almost like the scene in the harry potter's movies when they get into a looping parallel dimension until you get out in another dimension, yes i really felt i went into another dimension inside the metro and that's the exact sound from when it happened.
