Possibly the squeakiest internal door ever. Includes the comparatively minor squeaking noise of opening the door, followed by the long, drawn-out squeaking and groaning noises that are the agony of it closing again. Recorded at the men's changing room, seaburn centre gymnasium, sunderland, north east england!.

The Coventry Carol, a sixteenth-century English carol

Here's a recording i did from the third floor balcony of my hotel room in the hyde park area of london. It was a noisy spot, but very atmospheric and ideal for recording street sounds, especially in stereo. Recorded on a tascam dr-40.

Chatter/ pub ambience in cambridge (i think the pub is called 'the eagle'). Felt like giving back to freesound after using it so often.

I was wearing a flat cap so the sheep thought i was the farmer and raced down the hill towards me, expecting to be fed. They were disappointed. It was early may and the air was still and clear. You can make out the echoes from the steep hill behind them.

I've labelled this as a thrush, but i'm no ornithologist. I recorded it outside my house in northumberland, england at 03:30am on 22nd may 2012, using an olympus ws-560m digital recorder. You can hear a stream running faintly in the background and the odd pheasant call from across the valley.

Following the latest ‘dare the community’ i’ve finally hooked up my dirt cheap rtl software radio dongle to the formerly disused ‘masthead amplifier’ on our roof. Here are some english truckers(?) chatting over cb radio. They seem to be talking about one of their mates growing a beard and suggesting they ‘give him a quran’.

Uploaded on request - a chime that comes from a speaker inside ferrograph branded pis displays when a special message pops up on the screen; most commonly "stand well away", platform alterations or when a correction is made to the train arrival order. Commonly heard around railway stations in the south of england.

First, the engine note of the turbines can be heard and as it turns, the characteristic rotor 'slap'. It then fades into the distance. Recorded on a zoom h2 with a sennheiser mono gun mike.

A small, park-like area in the car park of a small college in the england. Some traffic noise, quiet chatter of nearby female students, a few car doors (which could easily be faded out). Very loopable (first 10 seconds of audio was cut off of the beginning and crossfaded in at the end).

I recorded this effect in orpington, england, on a mixpre3 recorder with a beyerdynamic mce72 stereo mic 24bit 48k wav. I caught this pair of canadian geese flying overhead and landing in a nearby pond during lockdown in orpington. March 17th 2021 at 0630am. The a21 is ever present but a lot less traffic noise at this time of day.

You can hear people in the park next to york minster chatting, walking, laughing and there's distant city noises. Then, around halfway through the recording the bells start to ring out for midday. The old flour mill at woodbridge in suffolk, england is powered by water from a tidal pond, which refills at every high tide. It is one of only two in the country. The sound is of the vertical wooden main drive shaft creaking in its bearings, with the mill-wheel rumbling in the background. Recorded with my sony pcm-m10.
