Lighting fire in an old wood-heated stove. Preparing wood and paper, lighting with match. Recorded in an old house in nykarleby, finland, with atr25 stereo microphone to sony minidisc recorder.
I took some matches, burned the whole package at the same time, then i moved it around the mic to get those lo-popping sound and all the hiss. I duplicated it on 4 tracks to get some stereo effect.
Mixed for broadcast, stereo fx from atp tennis tournament in rotterdam, netherlands. Sennheiser 416 mics on playing field, at stereo shotgun from under umpire chair aimed at net, 4 neuman km140 mics for crowd reaction. .

Combination of a lighter and a match. We used this in an audio project as an introduction to a fire sound to suggest someone initiating the spread of a wildfire (in our case, a metaphorical one).

Crowd in brazilian soccer stadium "maracanã" during a flamengo vs botafogo match. Cheers, songs, cursing and etc. Recorded with an iphone, converted to aiff. Part of a pack with 5 similar sounds.
Opening and closing of a small matchbox filled with 20 matchsticks. The movement was performed multiple times at various speeds. Recorded with sennheiser me 64 on focusrite scarlett.

This is a combination of plastic crackling, paper ripping and crumbling, sticks cracking and twisting, matches lighting, and a gas stove. All of which are moderately eqed and mixed in protools, but nothing is heavily processed. What is left is the illusion of a building fire.
It's a strange sound a candle was making while lit. I've pushed three burnt-off matches as a replacement for the wick, and they created such a shape of flame, that was "pumping" creating a strange buzzing sound. Recorded with a zoom h2.
