A recording of, to me at least, is the symbolic sound of the later summer woods, when the blue jays become more vocal. These beautiful birds stay here in southern illinois all year long, and are a welcome flash of color and blue crest once autumn begins arriving. Now, i have always thought this call of the blue jay is not the prettiest or melodic at all; in fact, hearing the call of a blue jay can be a bit unnerving. . . But, to me, it is symbolic of the " wild " ness of nature. . . One of my most melancholy nature sound. . . This recording was taken from the balcony of an apartment in johor bahru malaysia on september 30th 2022 at about 1:30pm. It was monsoon season but not raining and the weather was hazy and muggy. The recording features the drone of a busy city punctuated by a whippersnipper, a building site, birds, a light aeroplane and car horns. At around the 4:30 mark there's two loud motorcycles that race each other and echo around the city in a most glorious way. The recording was made with the inbuilt stereo microphones of a zoom h5 portable recorder.
