The sound is coming from the fans of a server. By pulling out one of the fans, all other fans turn up to 100%. The microphone is located above the air duct exactly in the middle of the case and thus between two fan fronts. The soundfile starts with the fans on standard speed. After a few seconds the fans turn up to 100%. I left them there for a few seconds and then quietly plugged the removed fan back in. This fan now also switches to 100% - this is the single, delayed "speed up" that can be heard from second 35. About 10 seconds later, all fans return to normal speed. Unfortunately, a colleague came in at that time and ended up talking into the recording. Due to lack of time, i was unfortunately unable to repeat the audio that day, but will certainly do another re-recording in the future. Feel free to use the sound; no attribution required. Diboz throws a piano at his annoyingly ticking watch, which is ruining his sense of timing. Created in flstudio 11 with lightly tweaked flkeys, flreverb2, jangly (almost tubular bells) wasp xt layers and a pitch bent formant for a bit of spookiness. The ticking noise and deep notes were generated by fiddling with morphine's presets. Caution: look at the waveform. Don't turn up the wick. This piece starts quietly but there's a sudden, loud, jump scare.

Starting a two-stroke chainsaw and reving it, then killing it. Recorded in stereo at 24 bit 96 khz with a sony pcm m-10. Recorded using jez riley french contact microphones, on a windy day on the south coast of england. I connected a pair of contact microphones to different parts of a metal fence and let the wind do the rest. Starts off gently and gradually the intensity increases as the wind picks up. You can hear the fence rattling and a ambient drone of the wind blowing.

My grandma recently gifted me a music box that was given to her by her mother, but it unfortunately doesn't work right anymore. It starts and stops unnaturally and can't make a loop, it requires constantly turning the wind-up mechanism to continue playing. This is the 1st of 2 recordings of me trying to get it to play.

Audio from video clips recorded this morning, thurs 29 april 2021, in south yorkshire. Blue tit right at the start of the recording. Some breeze has got picked up by the microphone on the camera. The bluetits are nesting in our garden and i've been filming them coming and going. They often perch and sing before going into the nestbox. Sometimes it's other bluetits visiting the garden rather than just the two who are nesting.

Took a drum loop and pitched out 3 different layers of itself, one at half speed an octave down, one at quarter speed 2 octaves down, and one on top that starts out chopped up into separated transients and returns to full speed at the end. I originally made this to be 3 different levels of progression for a backing drum-loop, with the first section being the buildup, the second as the transition/windup, and the third as the breakdown.

This started out as a good idea for one of my projects but began to have a life of it's own as i rolled up my sleeves and fussed over every detail. As you will hear, this sound file/track embraces panning like their is no tomorrow. You should be able to fold your sounds into it. I was recording with my wireless mic and i had dropped it on the floor and got a sound similar to this one so i started to try to remake it and this is what i came up with. I needed the sound effect for a car arriving. These were recorded in my driveway. 2011 honda element, waliking to car, starting it, backing down driveway, driving back up driveway, stopping car and walking away. Recorded using the internal mics of a zoom h2n. Recorded was on a tripod about three feet from car. These sounds were originally used in a performance of vanya, and masha, and sonia and spike.

I recorded this for an animated sequence i was doing that involved a bucket truck. I recorded a truck parked in a garage starting its motor, pulling out of the building, driving back into the building, stopping, hitting the air brakes and idling, backing up with backing beeps, idling again, and then honking its horn while pulling back out of the building. The truck circles the building again, pulls back in, hits the air brakes one more time and then cuts the motor.

This was recorded by holding a small pcm recorder (zoom h1n) very close to an ipod 4th generation. The ipod was turned on and its hard drive tried to start up. You can hear the spin up of the motor and the hard drive head clicking back and forth. The hard drive fails to power up completely and eventually shuts down again. A 350 hz high pass filter was applied, in addition to audacity noise reduction, to get this clean motor noise from the original recording. The stereo file was then mixed to mono because the mic was slightly off center from the ipod, and the stereo provides no benefit. The hard drive in this ipod is a 1. 8" 40 gb toshiba hard drive, the ipod model is a1059. The microphone was held just 3 cm (1. 2 in) from the ipod. Recording settings were stereo 44. 1 khz at 16 bit (wav format). The file is the same except it's mono.

Front channels of a 4ch-surround field recording of the interior of a german local commuter train, completely without human voices, heading from the towns of naumburg to weissenfels. The train is in full motion at the beginning of the recording, then stops, with squealing brakes and all, then starts up again and reaches full velocity. The recording was done with a zoom h2, the microphones (front) set to 90° dispersion.

Recorded from my apartment, second floor. This starts with a few bolts of lightning during the end of a typical early summer afternoon and ends up on a pretty huge thunderstorm including hail. I wish i could have recorded more but the storm was getting so important, i had to close my window.

This was hella tough to make! and i used this program that turns picture into sound. It has paint tools, and you start with a black canvas, you draw up a pattern on it, and depending on the color, position, size, quality, format and translucency of the marks and lines you placed, you get sounds. But it is really hard to get a hang of! this took me 3 days to get it right! please comment and rate, i worked really hard on this! by the way, i'll be making more of these, so if you like it, then i have three more.

A drain after a water flow: the water seems to build up a physical-mechanic surface tension kept mass in the tube, opens and closes this bubble-entity producing a specific rhythm in the plughole resp. The drainage pipe. It pulses with various plops and splashs, starts off with a firework kind of beat but then one hears a differentiated rhythm of 4-strokes sequences with slugs before these etc. Getting slower. Many minutes later it ends (beyond this track). The (hearable) cut is just the censorship of a small abortive piece -- left in to document the recording as recording.

Late winter snow storm last night in the detroit area 3-3-23 around 9pm est. Was attempting to record thundersnow but by the time i found my batteries the thunder and lightning stopped. Threw my zoom h1n under a plastic cloths basket just incase the thunder started back up, but no luck. This is a short clip of the original hour long recording. You'll hear, sleet, snow & wind.

A sound effect of me riding my bicycle. First i kicked up the stand and started riding; and then i pulled the breaks, almost wrecked, and put the stand back down after stopping. This is a recording of scrap metal collection taken in pilton, edinburgh in august of 2022 at 4:40pm in the afternoon. The first thirty seconds are the sounds of scrap metal being loaded onto the truck (a trampoline if i remember correctly) and some talking. Then you hear the truck start up, and the message through the megaphone "any old scrap metal!" followed by a list of scrap metal items. At this point the truck is slowly driving away. This was recorded with the inbuilt stereo microphones of a zoom h5.

This was recorded inside the blue mosque in istanbul during friday prayer in may 2005. To get in to the blue mosque with recording equipment we had to get a permission from the religious authorities. We also needed a muslim to operate the equipment since the friday prayers were forbidden for non-muslims. We set up the recording equipment and let our turkish guide hit the record button once the prayer started. The sound is recorded using an m/s rig straight to dat and processed afterwards with a hp filter in protools to remove microphone rumble. Before corsica_s's girlfriend started taking so many requests, she never cursed. And i wanted to take the samples of her moaning and breathing heavy and combine it with some dirty-sounding stuff. But it ended up way too dirty a concept and i got uncomfortable and never used it. Anyway to create this i took the following files:. 72251__corsica_s__fight77238__corsica_s__bring_me_luck80306__corsica_s__oclock. And edited them together in audacity to manually create her saying "fuck". Then they recorded her saying "sexy motherfucker" and other shit and i realized i have way too much free-time.

This wav file is a take-away from a midi track my current project. The vst instrument is 4front e-piano and it's free! - the root key is g major, starting off in the piano roll at g3. The bottom drops to g2 and uses heavy steps, separated by a key to reach g2. Going back up to g3, the notes are shortened and no keys are skipped. Hence the fairytale stares ascents. The ceiling above g3 is g5. So 1 octave down, 2 up. The tight stairstep is maintained above g3. There is just downward notes to keep it sounding like a saw form. The entire sound should be in-key and loopable. Each of the 16 bars is unique. I didn't just copy and paste the same notes several times. - my next step is to apply a different midi sound. Completely made in sony sound forge 10 with the fm tools. Starts off with a sine 6,000 hz to ~12,000 hz in about three seconds to emulate a camera flash warming up. For those who intend to use it as a part of a futuristic weapon in games, flashes, or movies, i also added a double beep as a "weapon ready" cue and final tone at the for an optional "locked on" which could also double as an error beep.

Stereo recording of a steam train leaving moor street station in birmingham in the direction of snow hill station, going into a short tunnel as soon as the engine leaves the platform. 4-6-0 hall class locomotive pulling a train of vintage carriages. Steam hiss, guard's whistle clearing the driver to leave the platform, coal being shovelled into furnace, piston starts to move, speeds up, train whistle (brief), sound of the steam locomotive fades and carriage bogey noise. Recorded on a zoom h2 with built in microphones, in 'mid' sensitivity level, hand held.

These recordings were made at the annual "tag der sachsen" (saxony fair) in freiberg. Recordings were done on the main market square (obermarkt), where a local radio station had set up a large stage for concerts and other events. Recording was done with a zoom h2, mics at 90° dispersion. This is the early morning after the event, at about 7. 30, stage hands are taking down the rigging, workers are clearing away trash and loading trucks. During the recording, someone starts working with a leaf blower.

I installed in december 2011 my sound data for bfd-eco, an acoustic drum vst that really rocks. By that time i had my akai mpc 1000 connected to my computer to do some sampling. While i didn't do any sampling while the installation progressed i did hear that the external hard drive that i was installing onto sent out disturbing binary pulses that my mpc picked up. I quickly started the sampler, and recorded as much as i could of the noises. This is the result.

I used audacity to synthesize the five-tone chime made by the montreal metro's jeumont train element 41. Backstory: the train itself was an mr-63 type train modified by canron circa 1971, adding a current chopper to the train's started system. The chopper produced an 'idle' tone at around 45 hz, and as the train departed, five tones at frequencies of 90, 120, 180, 240, and 360 hz. Originally there were 3 'elements' (a set of 2 motor cars and 1 trailer car) with the jeumont-schneider current chopper (element 40, made up of cars 81-579, 80-040, and 81-580; element 41, made up of cars 81-581, 80-041, and 81-582; and element 42, made up of cars 81-583, 80-042, and 81-584). During the early 2000s refurbishments, element 40 was retired from service to provide spare parts for the other elements, which were then connected with elements of 'normal' mr-63 trains. Only the 81-579 car remains from element 40. Element 41 and element 42 were then retired in 2018 when the other mr-63 trains were retired.

Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. The sound touches 0db one times, but is rather undistorted (at least digitally). Recorded with audacity @ 48khz/16-bit and saved as flac.

I had a little job which involved a cat drinking. . But first i had to record the bowl being put down. . . I placed the bowl down a few times - captured with correct room sound required. . To my amazement my cat decided to do somethign useful and actually came up to the bowl and started drinking the water. . . . . . Unfortunately i wasnt close mic'd - but my little booth is pretty quiet. . . . So thankyou oscar! you finally got a job to help pay for all those biscuits! technically he was no where near the large diaphragm cap mic , focusrite pre or motu 2408 :p.

Recorded from line-in from a 13-year-old boombox tuned to the bottom of the am dial and placed near the computer. You can hear the cd-player starting up, working, stopping, working again. At one point i skip through a track with winamp creating a choppy sound. When the cd player stops you can hear the base computer noise.

The sound of an electric car being plugged in and recharged. The clip starts with the car's recharging flap being opened from inside the car, then fully opened by hand, then the plastic socket cover being opened, then picking up the charging connector and plugging it into the car. There is some clicking as the electric vehicle's cooling fan turns on for a short while. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder at a small, suburban farm. Ambient recording of the courtyard in my apartment complex. The are two story brick buildings, next to a main road, border-line highway. The traffic light means that the birds and neighbor's dog start predominant, then are taken over by the rush of traffic as the light changes to green. A sunny day, but clouds are in the distance, as an impending storm is about to roll in. The whining dog seems to share his sentiment about the dark clouds. Recorded with a zoom h6, stereo xy adapter set to 120 degree spread. Set up through a wide open window as to cut down on wind noise.

A recording made in the shawnee national forest in illinois on the very first day of october, 2022. This recording was made at mid-afternoon and features the peaceful, pleasant wind through the deciduous trees. From time to time though, the soft call of a nuthatch or a chickadee reminds us there is still bird life in the early autumn woods. Birds getting ready, getting stocked up for the upcoming northern assaults of cold air this winter. Some crows really start to put on a show towards the end of this stereo recording. This is my attempt to emulate the sound of the harmony 64 chimes that can be heard on some ice cream trucks. I used a single note from a low-quality recording from a demo of the chimes for the base synth then cleaned up the audio using audacity and set the starting pitch to "c". (in particular, i used the first note of the "can-can" chime from http://www. Microminiatures. Com/tunes. Html). I then composed a short variation of a well-known song (bicycle built for two in this case). Nature, and man-made machines, wake up on a saturday in a small town in southern illinois. Even though getting "away from it all" and experiencing nature in the deep woods, or a quiet field is very enjoyable, let's not forget that nature often lives and thrives side-by-side with us. I recorded this in my back yard on saturday april 27th, 2013 at 6:45 am and you'll hear the low, but everpresent low rumble of a distant train throughout. But, over and above you hear the incredible variety of calls and sounds made by a family of starlings who seem oblivious to the iron horse and the occasional car. We had rain the night before, so every now and then you hear a loud "plop" as a breeze cuts loose fat rain-drop and it hits the foam wind-screen on my h4n. Starting at around 3:47 and running to 4:08 a cardinal makes a strong appearance. I made this recording using my zoom h4n recorder, using it's internal built-in stereo microphones, with the recording gain on 81, out of 100. Enjoy!.

The eerily quiet soundscape of a small midwestern town during the covid-19 shutdown. . . This was recorded in town, on a friday night (april 3rd, 2020) at a time when there is almost always more traffic, people and families walking and talking on the sidewalks. . This recording started at 11pm at night. . . What a strange, weird eerie feeling of this track. You will hear a lot of steady wind gusts, dry leaves being moved around by the strong southerly flow. . Equipment: sony pcm-m10 recorder sitting on a small tripod about 3 inches from the ground. . . I had to really crank up the gain on this one because everything was so quiet---almost as if the neighborhood was holding its breath. . . . Hope you enjoy this unique ambiance.

One friday night, me and my partner were eating dinner, and we both heard a click. She perks up, "what was that?" and i said "the dryer is running, probably something in it" and she goes "no it was inside" (our dryer is like a back door outside porch kinda deal). I noticed it came from inside as well, in the kitchen, but mentally shrugged it off because lasagna. But now i know she heard it inside too, so i walk in the kitchen where the sound came from and don't see anything moving or on. I took note of where my cats were in case anything was being chewed on: one in bed, one on the couch, they aren't chewing on anything or are even near the clicking sound, so back to dinner. About 45 minutes later, dinner is wrapped up, my partner is asleep and i start turning off all the lights. When i turn the kitchen lights off, there is a light that stays on in the corner. I have a car battery recharger there: it has usb ports in case ya lose power, charger cables, and a flashlight attached on the side. . . . Which is on. I turn it off: exact same click that i heard earlier. Do i have a ghost?.
