The dutch city of leiden has a test of its civil emergency alarm, at midday on the first monday of every month. Here is a distant recording of the alarm as it is heard in a leiden soundscape.

First, a 440hz tone will play on the LEFT side. Then, it will stop and play a 440hz tone on the RIGHT side. This is for testing which side is which, and if your stereo system is working properly.

Ff chaos test conditions:cv in from nlc jerkoff. Square wave in from lfo, 1hz. 3 vcos tuned to 130,8hz and one "strange sound". Cv in on vcos are attenuated, about 50%. Gate 1 and cv 1 to vco pan leftgate 2 and cv 2 to vco pan rightgate 3 to vco pan centertrigger to "strange sound" pan center. Sound 1 - cv min and rate minsound 2 - cv max and rate minsound 3 - cv min and rate maxsound 4 - cv max and rate maxsound 5 - cv at 50% and rate at 50%sound 6 - jerkoff to cv in on lfo. Vco 3 gets cv from jerkoff - chaos.

A little test recording i did with my brand new pair of jrf series d hydrophones. The 'phones were placed into the bottom of a large glass, which i then filled with carbonated water.

This sound was recorded from a metallic trash clench which we pushed and let it stop by itself. It has a compression effect and noise reduction. Recorded with zoomh4 with built-in microphones.

Testing the sennheiser mke 2002 binaural microphones (circa 1973), playing bongos resting on my lap. The microphones are designed to be mounted either on a dummy head or - as i use them here - a user's own ears. Binaural recordings require headphones for full effect.

A kinda spooky and experimental ambient sounds, could be something specific or broad and there are different parts to single out or crop.

Work in progress speech synthesis speech, all drawn in photosounder. I've drawn the basic vocalisation by drawing horizontal lines in the 100 hz range using the white spray with the harmonics modifier, and modulated that using the dark spray to create the formants. I also added a couple of fricatives with the white spray, but it's incomplete.

A 1khz wave, often used as an effect for a flatline, test pattern, censorship, etc. This one more for effect (such as a movie) than a test tone. This was built with a square waveform for maximum loudness.

Warning! loud noise! this sound is not intended to listen to, but to do technical measurements!. This is a test recording i made to measure my headphone's frequency response. It plays a nice "left" and "right" to determine the channels. Then it plays back white noise first in both channels, then one at a time. Then the same with sine sweeps. Then short impulses.
