As these are recorded using binaural in-ear mics, i purposefully don't turn my head to keep the sound clean and coming from the same direction. Let me set the scene for this audio because i am a nerd. . . Burbank, california. A large apartment/condominium complex with an open courtyard and a beautiful swimming pool and hot tub. I'm done in the hot tub and walking up 3 flights of stairs to my apartment. Squeak. . . Squeak. . . Squeak. . . Sure to sound either intimidating or goofy. Depends on your show!. Stereo ambience of people passing by at the kulturforum in berlin. This is a large open concrete space next to the berlin philharmonic hall. It's a warm summer evening and the berlin philharmonics have just finished an open air concert. The recording starts about 15 minutes after the end of the concert while everyone is leaving the place, maybe about 1000-1500 people. The crowd is generally in a happy and talkative mood. There are lots of international folks and tourists, so you'll not only hear german, but also english and lots of other languages. After six minutes or so there is also a police siren in the background. Recorded with a zoom h6 (xy mics). In the same pack there is also a second recording starting directly at the end of the concert with people applauding. It is can be found here.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording. Equipment used: zoom h4n recorder using the internal stereo microphones set on 180 degrees for the greatest sound capture.

This historic "flute clock" (orgeluhr) is a precious mechanical clock, with a small organ is combined. Given time to hear music from a pen-driven roller. Flötenuhrbaues the heyday was the late 18th out century. Flute clocks were built for affluent, culturally sophisticated circles, educated people with appropriate art and music understanding. The finest pieces built in vienna and berlin. Easier flute watches were up to about 1850 in large quantities in the black produced. They played for entertainment in guest houses. Several well-known composers wrote works specially for this instrument, as george frideric handel, carl philipp emanuel bach, haydn, antonio salieri, wolfgang amadeus mozart or ludwig van beethoven. Flute watches with great restrictions than their recorded music era to consider it forced the composer to be exact instructions in execution ornamentation and tempo. The coupling of wind plant and roll can be traced back to minimum tempos and makes historical flute clocks so interesting for issues of historical performance practice. (recorder: zoomh4npro 2018)(microphones: binaural roland cs-10em in-ear monitors). As these are recorded using binaural in-ear mics, i purposefully don't turn my head to keep the sound clean and coming from the same direction. Wow, this is a long one. . . But a good one. Let me set the scene for this audio because i am a nerd. . . Burbank, california. A large apartment/condominium complex with an open courtyard and a swimming pool and hot tub. Now, for some reason in la, nobody ever seems to actually use pools or hot tubs anymore so it's not hard to get clean audio. So, from beginning to end you will basically hear me turn the automatic shutoff dial on the wall, walk to the hot tub, get in the hot tub, and sit in various positions for extended periods of time. I was alone for the entire experience (wife was at work) and nobody joined. It's very clean audio and safe for all production. Recorded on 11/20/2018 in burbank, ca. Enjoy,. Christopher c. Courter.

This is the first recording in this pack from inside a traditional, working old dutch windmill, called de lelie - the lily - in the picturesque dutch village of eenrum. This mill was used to grind grain. There was a strong northwesterly breeze straight from te sea, so the sails of the windmill were in full swing, this morning on saturday may 14th. The dominant sound you hear is the sound of the so called “schuddebak”, litterally translated as “shaking bin”. This is a device in the form of a large wooden shovel which is tapping against the turning millstone in order to distribute the grain equally along the millstone. On the background you hear the millstone itself. On the second recording in this pack, the millers had detached the schuddebak, so the sound of the millstone is more dominant in that recording. This windmill is now a small museum. Admission is free, so everyone can admire this proud dutch windmill heritage which reclaimed half our country from the sea and gave us our daily bread. Thanks to the millers fort heir hospitality and cooperation!. (i used an iphone with a zoom iq5).

From 1:00-2:00in the sky a long way behind me and to the left, but somewhat far in the air, a group of birds are fighting above a large group of trees that are shaped like a ball of veins. Most of the birds are crows, or just black birds; each noise they make is a series of “caws” no different from each other in pitch, tone, or frequency. There's also the sound of 3 small birds directly to my right around 5 meters away from me, making loud but shrill chirping sounds. The birds are each the same size but and are hopping around the perimeter of a cactus right behind them. The wind blows onto the right side of my body and the front of my body. Waves from the ocean are crashing directly behind me, each in long sessions. The way they sound is consistent, like the sound of rain. Occasionally one of the waves will crash, increasing in volume but not in pitch or tone.

Session 1, find more koto in this sound pack. The recorder wasn't optimally placed in the session 1 recording, so sometimes you might hear some low impact noises transitioning through the table to the recorder. Some eq (low cut) should be able to fix this. We went to my friend's father to record a koto, a traditional japanese zither-like (table harp) instrument, consisting of a large wooden base with long strings for plucking. The strings are tuned in the japanese pentatonic scale, allowing a mystic, mysterious, beautiful harmony. It was my first time ever playing this instrument, so don't expect wonders lol. But i tried to "feel" the instrument as well as i could, working from my limited keyboard and guitar playing skills. I improvised simple patterns, and also tried to work with call and response ideas, and bass notes, plucking the low strings with my fingers, and then plucking the high ones with a pick. Happy listening, chopping, and remixing!. In kashiwa, chiba, east of tokyo. Mid october 2016. Zoom h2n stereo ms recording in 96khz, 24bit.

My computer starting up and shutting down in a quiet room around 11:30 pm. This thing has a solid-state drive of 120gb that is used to boot up windows 7 pro, and a wd green 500gb hard drive that is used to store nearly all my games, and tons of other large (compilations of) files including my five nights fangame files. This was recorded on the night of 4th september 2022, at 11:30 pm. As i am writing this, it's 11:12 am, monday, 5th september. This is my computer starting up and shutting down. (before you scold me for using a weak-ass computer, here are the specs and goodies). Gigabyte m68m-s2pamd phenom x3 720 2. 8ghz4gb ddr2-667 "unganged mode"gigabyte gp-gstfs31120gntdwd green wd5000aurx-63uy4y0asus radeon hd6570 1gb ddr3corsair vs350 psu 350w~~windows 7 pro~~windows 11 pro 64-bit (updated 9/10/2022). If you use this sound, you don't have to, but it would be nice to write my name in the credits and comment!. Edit - the small growl at the end when the fans stop ain't what you guess it is, it's a fan or the hdd's bearing having been ruined by age and emits this noise when spinning down. Yet i pulled up the gain, so it might not have been noticeable in real life.

Individual gryphons, davis-schrimpf seep field, salton sea, california. Lat: 33. 20070326716746lon: 244. 42179501054162. The davis-schrimpf onshore seep field site in the salton sea geothermal system is the result of shallow magmatic intrusions in a sedimentary basin. The ssgs is situated in the salton trough in southern california, an area with abundant surface manifestations of hydrothermal activity. The hydrothermal system in the salton trough occurs in a pull-apart setting where rifting and associated magmatic intrusions are responsible for the strong heat flow. One of the most concentrated and well-expressed onshore seep fields is the davis-schrimpf field, where more than 50 individual seeps are located in this area. Gas venting from gryphons and pools is vigorous with a continuous bubbling activity. Water and mud mixtures are continuously expelled down the flanks of the gryphons. Carbon dioxide produced from de-volatilization reactions involving sedimentary carbonate is the main driver for the seep activity. The morphological features of the davis- schrimpf seep field are strikingly similar to seep fields on dormant mud volcanoes however, the davis-schrimpf seeps are not related to mud volcanism, as mud volcanism normally implies large-scale mud breccia eruptions and a low temperature seep stage. A few cycles of my dad's home oxygen machine with a ticking battery operated clock in the background recorded in the early morning in the living room with lifecam hd3000 webcam at the end of about 16 feet of usb cable dragged out of my bedroom. He's about 6 feet away, i was with my back to the room with my camera pointed at my chest so he wouldn't think i was filming. It would seem this is the first and only oxygen machine on freesound. A full cycle seems to last from between 7 to 10 seconds. From wikipediaoxygen concentrators typically use pressure swing adsorption technology and are used very widely for oxygen provision in healthcare applications, especially where liquid or pressurised oxygen is too dangerous or inconvenient, such as in homes or in portable clinics. Oxygen concentrators are also used to provide an economical source of oxygen in industrial processes, where they are also known as oxygen gas generators or oxygen generation plants. Oxygen concentrators utilize a molecular sieve to adsorb gasses and operate on the principle of rapid pressure swing adsorption of atmospheric nitrogen onto zeolite minerals and then venting the nitrogen. This type of adsorption system is therefore functionally a nitrogen scrubber leaving the other atmospheric gasses to pass through. This leaves oxygen as the primary gas remaining. Psa technology is a reliable and economical technique for small to mid-scale oxygen generation, with cryogenic separation more suitable at higher volumes and external delivery generally more suitable for small volumes. [1]at high pressure, the porous zeolite adsorbs large quantities of nitrogen, due to its large surface area and chemical character. After the oxygen and other free components are collected the pressure drops which allows nitrogen to desorb. An oxygen concentrator has an air compressor, two cylinders filled with zeolite pellets, a pressure equalizing reservoir, and some valves and tubes. In the first half-cycle the first cylinder receives air from the compressor, which lasts about 3 seconds. During that time the pressure in the first cylinder rises from atmospheric to about 1. 5 times normal atmospheric pressure (typically 20 psi/138 kpa gauge, or 1. 36 atmospheres absolute) and the zeolite becomes saturated with nitrogen. As the first cylinder reaches near pure oxygen (there are small amounts of argon, co2, water vapour, radon and other minor atmospheric components) in the first half-cycle, a valve opens and the oxygen enriched gas flows to the pressure equalizing reservoir, which connects to the patient's oxygen hose. At the end of the first half of the cycle, there is another valve position change so that the air from the compressor is directed to the 2nd cylinder. Pressure in the first cylinder drops as the enriched oxygen moves into the reservoir, allowing the nitrogen to be desorbed back into gas. Part way through the second half of the cycle there is another valve position change to vent the gas in the first cylinder back into the ambient atmosphere, keeping the concentration of oxygen in the pressure equalizing reservoir from falling below about 90%. The pressure in the hose delivering oxygen from the equalizing reservoir is kept steady by a pressure reducing valve. Older units cycled with a period of about 20 seconds, and supplied up to 5 litres per minute of 90+% oxygen. Since about 1999, units capable of supplying up to 10 lpm have been available.

A late summer soundscape that is a favorite of mine. . Microphones set up in some mature woods about 60 feet from a large lake on labor day weekend. Most of the background is the insects, which are very obvious during this time of year. The swelling of their volume is nap-inducing (*at least to me in my opinion. )here is the midwest this swelling and subsiding of the insect wave tells me that summer is just about starting to go back downhill, after a feverish peak. Despite the covid-19 of the year, nature does not seem to have changed her soundscape. Life goes on in the forests. The birds, whose job of raising young is over, are still there. . . They're just resting and relaxing and listening to the insects as well i'm sure. Now of course you will hear a few prominent birds in this captured moment:(1) a great blue heron squawks out starting at 1:17 into this piece. (2) the alarm call of a red-headed woodpecker can be heard at 2:14. Other than that, just the insects singing their hearts out and the assortment of birds taking secondary place during this time of year. This was recorded on sunday september 6th 2020 at 8:30 in the morning in the forest in southern illinois. Equipment: zoom f4, microphone: sennheiser mkh 8060. Enjoy this audio snapshot of the subdued -- yet vibrant - sound color of late summer, finding comfort in the fact that, within four weeks, the colors of the leaves will be changing to oranges and reds and yellows. But, for now, there is still life to live in the insect and bird world.

I made this recording of ambient backgroud noise directly beneath the eiffel tower. The shape of the eiffel tower creates a unique acoustic environment in the vicinity of the tower, especially beneath it. You can hear a much higher level of background noise than you would hear in an open area, and the noise is unusual. The tower is made of thin pieces of iron arranged into a complex and very large lattice, which reflects and slices and dices sound in a unique way. Thus you have a high level of very even and unidentifiable background noise as noises from the ground and the platform get bounced around and distorted by the structure of the tower. This recording was made from the ground, with microphones pointed straight upwards about 2 meters off the ground. Noises from the ground travel upwards and bounce around the inside of the tower, then drift back down. There are noises in the tower itself as well, such as elevator motors and people on the platforms. The first platform, at 57 meters, is open in the center, whereas the second platform, at 116 meters, is completely closed and flat on the bottom. Wind moving through the tower also makes noise, and again the open structure of the tower changes the noise in a way that is specific to the eiffel tower. There wasn't much wind at ground level for this recording, but i don't know what the wind speed was at higher levels in the tower. Some voices in multiple languages are audible in the recording, as the area beneath the tower is awash in tourists. Recorded hand-held with a zoom h4n and a mini windjammer, using built-in mics, in stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, then converted to mp3 at 320 kbps because of the size of the file. Duration is about two minutes.

A recording of the peaceful mid-autumn woods here in the midwest usa. I recorded this on november 15 2022 using a sony pcm d-100. In the northern hemisphere now, days now are much shorter, and much colder. Which means all of our energetic summer warblers and other migrants have long gone south, and are no doubt lounging around in a palm tree or something just gorging on insects. Here is the midwest woods? sure the summer birds are gone, but, the beauty of this season is that now you can hear the birds that never leave us. No matter how brutal the winter is, the blue jays, the black-capped chickadees, the many species of woodpeckers and the belted kingfishers never leave. This creates a different, but beautiful soundscape in the woods. For this particular recording, since i've found through years of roaming the woods, birds have a tendancy to be near water, i placed the recorder on a creekbank about 15 feet from a shallow creek. Now of course i could have gotten closer to the creek but by now the entire woods is a carpet of leaves -- this very slow-moving creek included. Which means the leaves had accumulated on thevery still creek water itself and i was concerned if i stepped on the leaves--thinking it was solid ground underneath, i would instead be "treated" to an ice cold pair of shoes and socks!. Among the highlights of this recording are:00:00:00 starting off with the loud blue jays1:56 black-capped chickadees with their active musical trills3:55 the very large and very loud pileated woodpeckers8:41--8:56 then again starting at 10:05 and running through10:40 the beautiful belted kingfisher with it's staccato-likerasp. Enjoy this beautiful mid autumn woods soundscape in the midwest usa.

This is a quick fire sound i made using qubodup's "swing 25" public domain/cc0 upload on this site. It's a bamboo stick swinging, which i layered and toyed with to get the results here. For those curious, here are the steps. * i took the file into reaper, and slowed the file's playback rate to 31% of the original. * i then duplicated the file three times, for a total of 4 tracks. * track 1 (lowish gas-burner sound):- reverb (drum-room impulse response, a medium-sounding reverb with a slight deadness to it. In free impulse loader reverberate le, stretched impulse to 150% and set attack time to 0. 218s). - eq (-8db bandpass near 200hz, rising back to 0 by the 1k mark. Low-pass applied at 5. 8khz). * track 2 (lowest of sounds, like a bassy gas-burner):- chorus effect. That's it. (specifically acon digital multiply, a free plugin, set to the "romantic" preset). * track 3 (not as low as track 2, but closer to track 2 than 1)- reverb (a large hall impulse response. No adjustments, ie. No increased attack or stretching like for track 1. ). -chorus doubler (free plugin duet, preset: "basic doubler. " same effect as if i had doubled the track and pitched one up 6 cents. ). - chorus (free plugin acon digital multiply, preset: "romantic. Broadcast made by the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich from the besieged city of Leningrad in 1941. The work he refers to here is Symphony No. 7 in C Major, opus 60, subtitled Leningrad. Transcript: An hour ago, I finished the score of two parts of a large symphonic composition. If I succeed in writing this composition well, if I succeed in completing the third and fourth parts, then it will be possible to call this composition the seventh symphony. Why do I announce this? So that the radio listeners who are listening to me now will know that the life of our city goes on as normal. We are all now doing our military duty. Soviet musicians, my dear friends and numerous brothers-in-arms, my friends! Remember that our art is now in great danger. Let us defend our music, let us work honestly and selflessly!

This is a collection of "small room reverb" impulse responses that i sampled in a new england home known as butternut lodge, built and owned by actress bette davis back in 1940. It consists of all wooden rooms with many non-parallel surfaces, rugs and furniture and includes 3 round-shaped "silo" rooms! these rooms sound clean and do not have the irritating "ping" of many rectangular rooms. Short history/pictures of butternut (https://www. Airbnb. Com/rooms/24692769?source_impression_id=p3_1659215694_liuasyfxoceab5fn). Although these round shapes (and some of the other very small rooms) could potentially wreak havoc with phase at specific frequencies when summed to mono, i recorded this using the mid/side mic technique; therefore, the "side" channels fully cancel out, leaving a clean monaural reverb signal. These irs are stored as flac files. They can be used directly by any daw without conversion and have the added feature of being id3 tagged with a photo of the room each ir is taken from. After downloading, select view -> large icons in the folder to view the rooms. I sampled each room using a swept sine wave into a jbl flip 6 bluetooth speaker; recorded through a tascam tm-st1 m/s stereo microphone, feeding a tascam dr-07 recorder @ 24-bits 44. 1 khz and deconvolved using reaper. As of this post, i've been using these rooms for about 2 weeks. So far, i've found the "garage" to sound fantastic on drums! the drum sound! also, many of the other smaller rooms have a great effect on guitars, keys, and hand percussion. Each room varies in tone and brightness, so i've found that selecting/tuning the reverb send works well if approached like an eq. Increase the effect send until the instrument "feels" right (then perhaps back off slightly). A close-miked acoustic guitar, for instance, will take on a nice brightness and 3-d quality; not particularly reverberant, just big. At that point, i recommend applying any eq, compression, and bigger-sounding reverb effects. Hopefully you enjoy this. Please let me know how you like it and if you have any suggestions. Cheers!. Ken.

Recorded in my dad's bedroom with lifecam hd3000 webcam. This is a much better recording than my previous oxygen concentrator file, as i hauled my desktop into the bedroom at the other end of the apartment where the machine now is, when i was home alone. The webcam is on the bed about 3 or 4 feet from the machineat the beginning of the file you hear me flip the big switch and the machine comes on with a long on beep and thumps. I edited it to start then. At 00:1. 8 what i suspect is the water pump comes on, though i may be wrong. That's when the gurgling starts though. The machine has a small reservoir for distilled water to moisten the airflow. A cup or two lasts several daysyou'll hear various hisses and thumps in a 15. 6 second cycle as it runs. At 03:03 i flip the big switch to shut the machine off, and it bubbles and gurgles away for the rest of the file, as water i assume slowly perculates back into the reservoir, the bubbling getting quieter and quieter until it doesn't even sound like bubbling anymore, until it finally ticks to a stop. At 03:16 you hear me step as i get my foot loose from the mic cord lol. At 04:13 the furnace shuts down as a car finishes going by outside in the bass register, faint traffic noises and the furnace being the only background noises you'll hear aside from my moving around a couple times, and a faint bluejay at the end. At about 07:00 you can barely hear the machine anymore, but i could hear a faint ticking with my own ears. At 07:04 the furnace comes back on. At 07:08 you'll hear a bluejay faintly calling outside and a car going by outside after, which finishes the file at 07:20. I edited out my walking to the computer to shut the recording down.

Street noises recorded while walking through the most touristy area of montmartre, in paris, france. Streets visited include rue des saules, rue norvins, rue du mont cenis, rue du chevalier de la barre, rue du cardinal guibert, rue azais, rue saint eleuthere, in that order. Highlights include:. 00:00-00:30-> walking south along the relatively quiet saules ("willow") street in montmartre; footsteps and squeaking boots. 00:42-01:02-> street-cleaning truck passing on the same street. 01:02-01:30-> piano playing inside a restaurant on norvins street. 01:30-01:36-> rock music in some other shop. 01:44-01:46-> kids running past. 01:56-01:58-> barely audible music somewhere, under heavy crowd sounds. 01:56-02:59-> crowd noises, clinking silverware and plates in the restuarants i'm passing, increasingly heavy crowd. 03:00-03:21-> passing van, followed by another bus. 03:21-04:06-> ill-behaved young males ruining my take with strange ape-like cries. 04:06-04:17-> i think this was a passing taxi. 04:20-05:08-> someone playing a steel drum on the ground in mont cenis street. 04:43-------> someone closing a gate, i think. 05:16-05:18-> american tourist exclaiming at close range in chevalier de la barre street. 05:53-06:18-> street portrait artists talking and joking with each other. 06:30-07:25-> someone playing the harp on cardinal guibert street next to the basilica, partially drowned out by a passing car. 07:25-08:23-> someone singing on the steps in front of sacré-coeur. He had a powerful but distorted amplifier--the bad sound quality was like that in real life. I turned around in front of the basilica on this dead-end street and that's why the music switches sides. 08:23-08:40-> yes, that's a chainsaw. The city was trimming some large trees. 09:33-09:47-> more chainsaw noise as i walked past the workers on azais street. 10:00-11:00-> increasing crowd noise as i walk back north to the busiest part of montmartre along saint eleuthere street. Recorded with a hand-held h4n at 96 khz / 24-bits, stereo, compressed into 160 kbps / 44. 1 khz / 16 bits mp3. Recording date march 16, 2012, in the early afternoon.

This is a sci-fi ambient drone sound i made. It's creative commons cc0, so please treat it as public domain. You can use it in any commercial or non-commercial media for free, no restrictions. For those curious how i made this, i took a quick 8-second drum loop from my pocket operator po-33 (ko) and ran it through a free time-stretching/pitch-shifting program called akaizer. The program's based on old samplers like the akai s1000 that had extremely artifact-heavy time-stretching and pitch-shifting features. If you slow a sound down enough, the final product tends to sound harsh and electric. Akaizer turned my 8-second drum loop into 2 minutes and 38 seconds of harsh, bassy noise, pretty damn close to the final. Then i imported the file (we'll call it file a) into reaper, my daw. Track 1 has reaeq with a high-shelf acting like a low-pass. Its curve is set at 1386. 2 hz, gain at -inf, and bandwidth at 2. In retrospect, i have no idea why i didn't use a low-pass. Track 1 has a send to a blank track 2, which has a fab-filter pro-q 3 high-pass filter with a 12db slope. It's at 320. 57hz, q is 1. 096. After the eq, track 2 has valhalla shimmer set to the black hole preset with no changes. Track 3 is the default file a with valhalla shimmer on the black hole setting, but with two tweaks. Low-cut is at 30hz, high-cut is at 6630hz. Everything else is the same. That's followed by fab-filter pro-q 3 with these eq settings:-0. 72db at 69. 463hz, q at 1. 007. -1. 11db at 536. 64hz, q at 1. 013, dynamic eq (click "make dynamic" and leave everything as-is). The point of this dynamic eq is to give a slight drop in gain in the 500hz region, which tends to get muddy in larger mixes. I wasn't sure if i'd use this for a larger project, and i didn't want build-up in that region from the already large-sounding track 1 and 2. The ocassional eq drops here also adds a warble to the final mix that helps sell an analog, electrical sound. +0. 85db at 3697. 3hz, q at 1. 009. This is to add subtle airiness to the drone. It seems weird to have "airiness" in the 3-4k region, but it's the sort of rumbliness of the sound traveling away and dissipating in the atmosphere after the lowest drone sounds. My volume fader settings for all 3 tracks:. Track 1: -8. 59 dbtrack 2: -6. 46 dbtrack 3: -6. 43 db. On my master bus, i have izotope imager 9 with these settings:. Band 1: width at -100 (mono) for 59hz and below. Band 2: nothing at 60hz to 525hz (width at 0). Band 3: width at 48. 1 for 526 to 1. 4khz. Band 4: width at 49. 4 at 1. 4khz and above. Stereoize is set to 6. 4ms on mode i. And that's it! no compressors or limiters anywhere, since i liked how dynamic the actual tracks were and i figure you can always add your own compressor or limiter to the final if you want. I've also added the original po-33 drum loop on my page, as well as the loop after it was run through akaizer but before it hit reaper in case you want to do your own processing. Enjoy :).

With some effects processing, these recordings can create great cinematic impacts and atmosphere. Markers inserted through audition to mark out some of the sounds i found particularly useful.
